En el post anterior les contaba sobre la magia única con la que cuenta la Patagonia Argentina. No solo es un lugar patrimonio natural de la humanidad, sino que se aprende muchísimo con los guías de las expediciones. Así, a pesar de que siempre he sido alguien negado a contratar tours y prefiero andar los países autónomamente; la sorpresa ha sido dar el paso para que personas bien preparadas nos enseñen sobre las maravillas naturales que se nos cruzan por el frente. No sé si antes me habría ahorrado dolores de cabeza, pero, lo que si es cierto, esta vez decidimos pagar a las operadoras turísticas.
In the previous post I told you about the unique magic of Patagonia Argentina. Not only is it a natural world heritage site, but you learn a lot from the expedition guides. So, although I have always been reluctant to hire tours and I prefer to walk the countries on my own; the surprise has been to take the step to have well-trained people teach us about the natural wonders that cross our path. I don't know if I would have saved myself headaches before, but what is certain is that this time we decided to pay the tour operators.
Es decir, el boleto aéreo y la estancia por Airbnb, las hemos conseguido por propia gestión; pero los paseos en ésta vasta región, por desconocerla, los hemos tenido que contratar con Turisur, la gente que mejor maneja los tours acá. Y no nos han decepcionado. En la secuencia de fotos, además del vídeo, podrán dar cuenta de un paseo contratado a ésta agencia. El día de ayer hemos ido a visitar el Bosque Los Arrayanes y la Isla Victoria, un par de ecosistemas impresionantes. El valor del paseo por persona es de AR$ 6.500 (US$ 35 aprox.) e incluye: el traslado en bus hasta Puerto Pañuelo desde Bariloche, el ferry que navega hasta el bosque y luego del recorrido, te busca para ir a Isla Victoria, la visita guiada a ambos sitios y los retornos respectivos al puerto y a la ciudad. No incluye los impuestos de visita al parque (AR$ 1,820 - US$ 9.10 aprox. por persona) y la tasa de embarque por uso del puerto (AR$ 270 - US$ 1.35 aprox. por persona).

Al llegar al Bosque de Los Arrayanes te envuelve el frescor de lo que llaman nuestros guías: selva valdiviana, un tipo de ecosistema muy particular porque la amplitud de la temperatura se siente cuando estás expuesto al sol o fuera de él. La sensación térmica baja increíblemente cuando te encuentras en la sombra; pero lo que hace único a éste bosque son dos cosas: el árbol Arrayán es nativo de la selva patagónica y su tronco es color canela claro. Algo de lo que no tenía conciencia. Por ello ha sido un paseo muy especial. Vimos, entre otras cosas, hongos creciendo sobre madera muerta de un modo diferente a como lo había visto antes.
When you arrive at the Bosque de Los Arrayanes you are surrounded by the freshness of what our guides call: Valdivian forest, a very particular type of ecosystem because the temperature amplitude is felt when you are exposed to the sun or out of it. The thermal sensation drops incredibly when you are in the shade; but what makes this forest unique are two things: the Arrayan tree is native to the Patagonian rainforest and its trunk is light cinnamon-colored. Something I was not aware of. So it was a very special walk. We saw, among other things, mushrooms growing on dead wood in a different way than I had ever seen before.
Otra particularidad de las visitas a ésta zona: se camina y muchísimo ¡Por supuesto, es un entorno natural por Dios! Pero para alguien poco entrenado, será un suplicio ¿Lo mejor? Las vistas que entrega cada tour, paseo o caminata. Es difícil no empezar a cuestionar la propia existencia cuando ves algo como esto. Es decir, las distancias desde donde resido hasta acá ¡Son enormes! Y que la mayoría de los seres humanos nunca lleguen a conocer lugares tan prístinos me parece injusto. Pero, sabiendo la carga que para el ambiente resulta tener personas rondando, quizás ha sido lo mejor que le ha sucedido a nuestro planeta.
Another particularity of the visits to this area: you walk and a lot of walking. Of course, it is a natural environment for God's sake! But for someone untrained, it will be an ordeal. The best thing? The views that each tour, walk, or hike offers. It's hard not to start questioning your existence when you see something like this. I mean, the distances from where I live to here are enormous! And that most human beings never get to see such pristine places seems unfair to me. But, knowing what a burden it is on the environment to have people roaming around, perhaps it has been the best thing that has happened to our planet.
El ferry te busca al mediodía para emprender la ida a la isla Victoria. un lugar mágico y con una peculiar riqueza: un laboratorio biológico natural. Para hacer el cuento corto, comenzando el siglo pasado, un bonaerense de familia rica se enamoró de la isla y quiso comprarla al gobierno Argentino, quien para la época dotaba de tierras a quien quisiera hacer vida acá ¿la razón? Poblar una región que sería reclamada por Chile si seguían los movimientos migratorios descontrolados. El tipo no consiguió que se la vendieran, pero si consiguió su usufructo. A partir de allí se trajo peones e introdujo una serie de especies no nativas en la isla, con el fin de hacer un gigantesco vivero. Las cosas se salieron de control y unos años después devolvió la isla al gobierno, dejando una infraestructura enorme. Los biólogos argentinos se dieron cuenta de la introducción de especies exóticas y aconsejaron al gobierno hacer de la isla un bioma particular para estudiar.
The ferry will pick you up at noon to take you to Victoria Island, a magical place with a peculiar richness: a natural biological laboratory. To make a long story short, at the beginning of the last century, a rich family from Buenos Aires fell in love with the island and wanted to buy it from the Argentine government, which at the time gave land to anyone who wanted to live here. To populate a region that would be claimed by Chile if the uncontrolled migratory movements continued. The guy didn't get it sold, but he did get its usufruct. From there he brought in laborers and introduced a series of non-native species to the island, intending to create a gigantic nursery. Things got out of control and a few years later he returned the island to the government, leaving a huge infrastructure. Argentine biologists became aware of the introduction of exotic species and advised the government to make the island a particular biome to study.
Es entonces cuando los científicos se dieron cuenta que las especies invasoras acabaron con el bosque local, el cual tardaba muchísimo más en crecer que los pinos (entre otras especies) que trajeron acá. El corolario del asunto, es que ésta isla contiene especímenes de todas partes del mundo, tal como lo podrán certificar en las imágenes. Un ejemplo de tantos, donde el hombre es capaz de intervenir, con resultados desastrosos para las especies nativas. El bosque patagónico es muy especial. El único otro sitio del mundo fuera de Venezuela donde he sentido el bosque como un gigante ser viviente ha sido en el Redwoods National Park en California. Cuidar el bosque es cuidar nuestro futuro como especie. Nos leemos por allí.
It was then that the scientists realized that the invasive species had destroyed the local forest, which took much longer to grow than the pines (among other species) that were brought here. The corollary of the matter is that this island contains specimens from all over the world, as you can see in the images. One example of many, where man is capable of intervening, with disastrous results for the native species. The Patagonian forest is very special. The only other place in the world outside of Venezuela where I have felt the forest as a giant living being is in Redwoods National Park in California. To take care of the forest is to take care of our future as a species. See you next post.
