Hi Everyone,
As the previous post stated we are currently sailing our way to Hamburg, Germany and we have a day at sea today. The clocks went forward last night so we are currently travelling on France time which also meant we got one less hour of sleep which was much needed.
From last nights exploration of the ship, this is a glass floor that you can see all the way down to the sea. Not for the weak hearted but my son being a dare devil even started jumping on the glass.
We all didn't wake up till around 9am but breakfast finishes at 10am so we had to quickly jump out of bed, get ready (including the 2 kids) and make our way to breakfast, luckily the restaurant is only across the hall. I ordered the steak and eggs with a side of french toast along with some pancakes and sausages for the kids.
After a hearty breakfast, we decided to check out the pool area to find some gummy bears and smarties that are my son's favourite treat. We also took a walk round the ship to stretch our legs as our room was being made by our steward and the technician was fixing some of our lights that weren't working properly. After our stroll around the ship we went back to our cabin to relax and watch Ghostbusters before lunch time which runs from 12pm to 2pm.
My daughter was mesmorised with this light, she could of sat here for hours just staring at the colours of this light that spans 3 floors.
We went to the Haven Restaurant for lunch which did not disappoint, I had a selection of fried seafood goodies or what they called the Seafood Fritto Misto, which may I say was absolutely delicious and so fresh. For main I had the Steak Frites which is a grilled NY strip with some chips and for dessert I decided to have the pavlova which was the perfect end to an absolutely delicious lunch. It was also a quiet lunch as both kids ended up falling asleep.
We did some more exploring around the ship before coming back up to The Haven area. Even though these Haven Suites are expensive they come with benefits, this Haven area as a whole is almost like a ship within a ship. It's got everything you need all in one area minus the shops which are all on deck 8. We did want to go out onto the pool deck so my son could play in the splash zone again but we decided that it was too cold and too windy as well for him to be out.
The afternoon has been spent watching films, having the kids napping in bed which has given me some free time to write some more blog before final editing this evening and having a latte as the butler brought us some hot milk which we used with the Nespresso machine. Tonight we are having dinner served in our room, which we have never done before so I'm looking forward to that. It may seem that being couped up in our room doesn't seem like a holiday but words can't describe this experience, you have to experience it yourself to be able to see how it makes a person feel.
For tonight, it was a very late dinner as we didn't know it would take them nearly an hour to prepare dinner for us to have in our room. The butler came in, set the table up, which was on the small side as we ended up having every dish on the table.
Oyster Rockefeller as a starter which is oysters on the half-shell that have been topped with a rich sauce of butter, parsley and other green herbs, and bread crumbs, then baked.
Surf & Turf tonight again but this time I had a NY Strip as the fillet wasn't as nice last night. Look at that tasty lobster tail. If you know me, lobster is my favourite delicacy!
To finish off I ordered the decadent chocolate cake but my son ended up eating majoirty of this cake!
My son had chicken tenders and what was suppose to be chips, but if you weren't aware chips in American means crisps for the UK which means, if you're ever in the USA and you want chips you ask for fries. Dining in our room was much more relaxed and my son enjoyed eating his dinner on the sofa while watching the Super Mario film. It's something that we will definitely do again and it's a lot more private.
We arrive in Hamburg, Germany at 7am tomorrow but dependent on the weather depends whether we will venture out as it's a 40 minute walk from the port to centre of town. We are staying overnight and won't be leaving till the day after at around 1pm.
Until next time, stay tuned.
