The first stop of a trip; of the series "Memories of a tour for Havana city"// La primera parada del viaje; de la serie "Memorias de un viaje por La Habana"

We finally arrived 🥳 in Havana seventeen hours later, from our city: Santiago de Cuba 🌇, located just over 900 km from the capital. The bus trip 🚃 was calm and luckily we had the night time 🌌. We traveled all night and early morning and arrived at the terminal around noon on Friday, October 26. My friend Hive account@yecier didn't have a ticket to travel with me on the same bus 😐, but we resolved it by talking to the driver 👮🏽‍♂️. The bad thing about that was that he had to make almost half of the trip, to the province of Ciego de Ávila, sitting from time to time in a seat that was empty in sections, he even had to sleep part of the early morning in the hallway of the bus 😬. Luckily, the rest of the time until our destination, things improved and he was able to rest 😅. I did sleep all night. I was exhausted. It was a hard week before the trip.

Llegamos 🥳 finalmente a La Habana diecisiete horas después, desde nuestra ciudad: Santiago de Cuba 🌇, ubicada a poco más de 900 km de la capital. El viaje en bus🚃 fue tranquilo y por suerte nos tocó el horario nocturno 🌌. Viajamos toda la noche y la madrugada y llegamos a la terminal sobre el medio día del viernes 26 de octubre. Mi amigo Hive account@yecier no tenía pasaje para viajar conmigo en el mismo autobús 😐, pero resolvimos hablando con el chofer 👮🏽‍♂️. Lo malo de aquello fue que tuvo que hacer casi la mitad del viaje, hasta la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, sentado de rato en rato en algún asiento que quedaba vacío por tramos, incluso, tuvo que dormir parte de la madrugada en el pasillo del bus 😬. Por suerte, el resto del tiempo hasta nuestro destino, la cosa mejoró y pudo descansar 😅. Yo sí dormí toda la noche. Estaba agotadísima. Fue una semana dura antes del viaje.

We ate something 🍕🍔🥂 at the same bus station, we rested a little and began our tour 👫 of the places on the list that I showed you in the introductory post of the series. We made the first stop at the Plaza de la Revolución 🏢. Right opposite is the National Library 🏣. Incredibly, despite my great relationship with books 📚 and literature, I had never been there before on any of my many trips to Havana. The truth is that it did not meet my expectations 😐. I thought it was a bigger place. I designed a patio inside, a cafeteria where you could have at least one coffee ☕. Sales stalls with office supplies, agendas, magazines, but no. We also couldn't enter the reading rooms because for that you have to have a membership card. We could barely see the hallways, the José Martí sculpture and the stained glass windows, which was what I liked the most 😅.

Comimos algo 🍕🍔🥂 en la misma estación de autobuses, descansamos un poco y comenzamos nuestro recorrido 👫 por los lugares de la lista que le mostré en el post introductorio de la serie. La primera parada la hicimos en la Plaza de la Revolución 🏢. Justo enfrente queda la Biblioteca Nacional 🏣. Increíblemente, pese a mi gran relación con los libros 📚 y la literatura, nunca antes en ninguno de mis muchos viajes a La Habana había estado ahí. La verdad es que no cumplió con mis expectativas 😐. Pensé que era un sitio más grande. Ideaba un patio en su interior, cafetería donde poder tomarse uno al menos un café ☕. Puestos de venta con materiales de oficina, agendas, revistas, pero no. Tampoco pudimos entrar a las salas de lectura porque para eso hay que tener carné de asociado. Apenas pudimos ver los pasillos, la escultura de José Martí y los vitrales, que fue lo que más me gustó 😅.

The second stop was amazing. We arrived at the José Martí Memorial, took some photos at the sculpture and the surroundings. Then we went up to the viewpoint 😍.

La segunda parada sí fue asombrosa. Llegamos al Memorial José Martí, tomamos algunas fotos en la escultura y los alrededores. Luego subimos al mirador 😍.

The José Martí Memorial viewpoint is divided into the four cardinal points. We took a tour of each one, imagining the places we could go from there 🤩. We sat for a while in the south, pointed out a location that may soon be a destination and drowned our sorrows for a while .

El mirador del Memorial José Martí está dividido en los cuatro puntos cardinales. Hicimos un recorrido por cada uno, imaginando los sitios a los que podríamos ir desde ahí 🤩. Nos sentamos un rato en el sur, señalamos una ubicación que quizás pronto sea destino y ahogamos las penas un ratico 🥺.

We spent a long time up there at the viewpoint, observing the city, talking, reflecting on life. It was a nice moment to plan what the rest of the week was going to be like.

Estuvimos mucho tiempo allá arriba en el mirador, observando la ciudad, conversando, reflexionando sobre la vida. Fue un lindo momento para planear cómo iba a ser el resto de la semana.

When we got down, we walked through the lobby of the Memorial and saw the exhibition "What unites us", which was in the gallery.

Al bajar, estuvimos caminando el lobby del Memorial y viendo la exposición "Lo que nos une", que estaba en la galería.
