Good day Pinmapple peeps it has been some time since I've shared some beautiful locations of Australia with you due to lock downs but now that things are open it's time to head out again and showcase some of our nations best locations and events on offer.
It's that magical time of year again where we all come together to have fun, be jolly and celebrate Christmas. In Australia Christmas occurs in the summer months so it's often spent at beaches having BBQs and trying to keep cool as it can get quite hot here in the land down under.
It's been quite hard for a lot of businesses throughout the lock down and no more challenging than for Adventure Park located in Geelong which traditionally makes it's money in a small window of opportunity in summer to tourists. The location is a water amusement park targeted at families and in recent years the upgraded their water slides to incorporate slides for larger thrill seekers.
But this year having missed pretty much two summers they delved into the Christmas season and decorated their entire theme park in jolly Christmas lights and attractions such as face painting, Ferris wheel, amusement rides. Building on that festive season of family, friends and time well spent together.
Throughout the park is music playing and each location has a specific tune and theme which was absolutely beautiful and really engaging for the kids.
Little miss experienced having her face painted for the very first time which was delayed due to COVID and being locked down. I didn't know how she'd handle being in such a large open space filled with people but I honestly think she handled it better than me.
We arrived at sunset and for $AUD30 per person (lil bloke for free) it was the right time to arrive as it gave us enough time to get our bearings and once that sun went down the light show really came out to shine.
The entire length of the man made lake which usually is used to power the water slides and amusements was decorated in what I would refer to as Joy and happiness. Some lights and exhibits moved, danced and even sang. With plenty of locations to stop to take a selfie and professional photographers on-site to take a picture and print it out on the spot. Although the lines we're quite long so we didn't stop. It was about $AUD13
The central piece being the North pole which also featured a Santa for Santa pictures and a letter box to post your letters to Santa for your presents.
Again the line was a little long so we didn't stick around for it but definitely something we will do next year.
We decided to spend our time on the neon lite rides which are all free included with the cost of entry. Last time we went on this ride little miss was just over 2 years old and she was scared this time she didn't want to get off and had a blast!
The business owners went to many lengths to ensure all avenues of the park work covered in lights even the banks. You can tell they were passionate about their vision and what they wanted to achieve which paid off in the long run with thousands of people passing through just on the weekend alone with the exhibit open throughout the Christmas and new year break.
Even the water wasn't off limits with many boats, dragons and Christmas themed exhibitions floating in the lake. There was even a shark that was half leaping out of the water which looked really amazing once the sun went down.
My highlight was the mock lightsabers that were on offer and Lil Miss and I battled it out for who would be the greatest Jedi of all time. It's interesting because I call it star wars where little miss calls it green baby a nod to the stellar show Mandalorian which is what she associates with the franchise.
We had an absolute ball and if you're looking for something to do and visit than I'd highly recommend the Christmas Festival of Lights at adventure Park.
Stay tuned as we revisit the park and ride the water slides!
