La plazoleta o el monumento de Nuestra Señora del Chiquinquirá se localiza justamente enfrente de la Basílica o también del frente de lo que vendría siendo la iglesia de Santa Bárbara este lugar rinde un tributo especial a la patrona de los maravillosos en su interior se puede encontrar un gran monumento que mide aproximadamente 27 metros, esta plazoleta fue construida e inaugurada justamente en el año 2004 por lo que tiene 20 años su edificación, es una plaza de gran belleza y arquitectura modena, con diversas fuentes de agua y jardineras.

En la plaza se encuentran tres grandes fuentes de aguas dos de ellas son rectangulares y una que es redonda, posee unas pequeñas caídas de agua y a su alrededor abundante flores, silvestres que adornan esta fuente dándole un toque bastante, especial conjuntamente con bancas en donde te puedes sentar y apreciar su belleza, las flores son rojas, rosadas, también blancas, estas fuentes hacen de la plaza un buen atractivo ya que no se encuentran muchas en la ciudad.

El monumento de Nuestra Señora del Chiquinquirá se encuentra localizado justamente donde se encontraba la choza en la cual ella realizó su aparición, la estatua de 27 metros en su alrededor posee abundantes ángeles y querubines podemos encontrar también diversas fuentes de aguas, que éstas tienen forma de media luna, en dónde podemos observar plasmado cada una de las estaciones del viacrucis, en cada esquina podemos apreciar la imagen de San Antonio y San Pedro que esto se encuentra acompañando a la virgen tal cual y cómo está en su tablita, observando a la virgen está el pequeño monumento de María Cardenas anciana que vio por primera vez la aparición de la Virgen.
