A Trip to Agua Santa. Our state of Sucre is well known for its beautiful beaches—vast stretches of ocean that delight both locals and the tourists who visit us. But Sucre isn’t just about beaches; it’s also home to a wide variety of rivers, where everyone can enjoy a unique day out, a family outing, or a very special day. That’s why we planned a day at the river.

For example, between our city of Cumana, the capital of Sucre State in Venezuela, and the municipality of Montes in the same state, lies our beautiful, vast, and majestic Manzanares River a major waterway that also receives the Arenas River, the Rivilla River, and the waters from the Los Dos Ríos area. Now, the idea was to spend a different kind of day with the family, so we decided to visit the town of Agua Santa; as I mentioned earlier, it is located between Cumana and Cumanacoa, the capital of the Montes municipality. Without a second thought, we rented a minibus since there were 10 of us—and very early in the morning, we set out in search of the relaxation and stress relief that a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city can offer.

We set off together, and in addition to enjoying the river, we were also able to enjoy the journey and the scenery. Along the way, we passed through various hamlets where we could observe the lush vegetation and the diverse crops that the residents have cultivated products intended for both sale and personal consumption. We must not overlook the blazing sun that shines over our region and the fabulous blue sky that serves as a canopy during the day.

If you haven't seen a pineapple plant before, I had the chance to visit a plantation and am offering you this fruit before it's harvested. On the other hand, upon arriving at our destination, we see the beauty of our region. A very beautiful stretch of the Manzanares River, blue skies, and wonderful vegetation; the river has several pools formed by nature itself, some deeper than others, so we need to be a little careful when entering them.

When you find yourself in this kind of setting, it’s customary to prepare food for the occasion. It might be grilled meat or soup; in our case, we made a delicious wood-fired chicken and smoked bone stew. While the soup was cooking, I rested for a moment in the hammock before going for a swim and continuing to enjoy this beautiful scenery. There are calm sections of the river, but in other places the current was strong. In these areas, you have to be careful because you never know when the river might flood. Thankfully, the weather held up, with no risk of rain. I mention this because, on numerous occasions, the floods have been so powerful that they’ve practically wiped out entire villages.

We really had a great time and visited several of the pools mentioned, where the current was very strong. They form a sort of waterfall, and that can be very relaxing—the sound of the current and its force help relieve stress. For a few minutes, I stood in front of those currents to get a fabulous massage on my upper back. Without a doubt, our Sucre department has many places to explore and enjoy. De Viaje a Agua Santa. Nuestro Estado Sucre es muy conocido por sus hermosas playas; grandes extensiones de mar que deleitan a los lugareños y a los turistas que nos visitan. Pero es que no solo playas tiene Sucre; porque también podemos encontrar una gran variedad de ríos, donde todas las personas pueden disfrutar de un día diferente, de un día en familia, de un día muy especial; por lo tanto, planificamos un día de río.

Por ejemplo; entre nuestra ciudad de Cumaná, capital del estado Sucre Venezuela y el municipio Montes del mismo estado Sucre, tenemos a nuestro hermoso, inmeso e imponente Río Manzanares; fuente fluvial que también recibe al Río Arenas, Río Rivilla y el sector Los Dos Ríos. Ahora, la idea era pasar en familia un día diferente y nos propusimos visitar la población de Agua Santa; la misma, como dije antes, está ubicada entre Cumaná y Cumanacoa capital del Municipio Montes. Sin pensarlo dos veces alquilamos una buseta, ya que éramos 10 personas y muy temprano en la mañana, nos fuimos a la búsqueda de la relajación y el desestrés que nos puede brindar un día alejado del bullicio de la ciudad.

Emprendimos la marcha todos juntos y además de querer disfrutar del río; también pudimos disfrutar del recorrido y del paisaje. Durante el viaje se puede pasar por diversos caseríos y en ellos podemos observar la gran vegetación y los variados cultivos que los pobladores han desarrollado; productos que sirven para la venta y el consumo personal. No podemos dejar de lado, el imponente sol que cubre nuestra región y el fabuloso cielo azul que sirve de techo durante el día.

Si no han visto la planta de piña; tuve la oportunidad de estar cerca de un cultivo y les ofrezco esta fruta antes de que la cosechen. Por otra parte; al llegar al destino, vemos la belleza de nuestra región. Un sector del Río Manzanares muy hermoso, cielo azul y una vegetación genial; el río tiene varias pozas que han sido formadas por la misma naturaleza, algunas con más profundidad que otras, por lo que hay que tener un poco de cuidado cuando ingresemos a ellas.

Cuando uno se encuentra en este tipo de ambiente; lo normal es que se preparen alimentos para tal ocasión. Puede ser parrilla o sopa; en nuestro caso, preparamos un delicioso sancocho a leña de pollo y hueso ahumado. Mientras se hacía la sopa; reposé un momento en el chinchorro para después irme a bañar y seguir disfrutando de esta belleza. Hay sectores tranquilos del río; pero en otros lados la corriente estaba fuerte. En estos espacios hay que tener cuidado, porque no sabemos cuando puede haber una crecida del río, gracias a Dios el tiempo estaba acorde al momento, sin riesgo de lluvia. Digo esto; porque en reiteradas ocasiones las crecidas son tan poderosas, que prácticamente han desaparecido caseríos completos.

De verdad que la pasamos genial y estuvimos visitando varias de las pozas indicadas, donde la corriente era muy fuerte. Se forman como especie de cataratas y eso puede ser muy relajante, el ruido de la corriente y la fuerza de la misma calma el estrés. Por algunos minutos; me coloqué delante de esas corrientes, para recibir un fabuloso masaje en la parte alta de la espalda. Definitivamente; nuestro estado Sucre tiene muchos sitios que conocer y donde pasarla bien. Si tienen oportunidad de visitarnos, disfruten de nuestras playas y ríos; saludos y nos vemos ls pronto.
