What's up, Hive?
I know it's already Tuesday but it still feels like the weekend. I've spent an incredible long weekend at Camotes Island with my one and only love to celebrate another milestone in our relationship. ❤️ Anyway, I will not be talking about Camotes in this post (but will definitely share it some time in the future).
Today, I'll continue sharing my post lockdown travel to the town of Alegria in the Southwestern part of Cebu. If you missed Part 1, here's the link to my post.
✨At last, sunset by the beach✨
In my last post, I left you with a photo of me with the biggest smiles (and probably waves of laughter uncaptured by the camera). After the much-anticipated picture taking by the beach, we took some time to relax and just take in the idyllic scenery which was just basically within our reach.
In my case, I found this swing. I was eyeing to sit, relax, and just allow good vibes to flow naturally but someone was still using it. It was the only one available in the resort. Good thing, it was vacated after some time and I wasted no time and sat on it while the sun's up right above me reminding me how great it is to be alive. And look at the view! Refreshing, isn't it?
The pictures I took may tell you how inviting the water was but we had to delay swimming for a bit since it was too hot. We'd probably end up like roasted pigs if we pushed through swimming at 3 in the afternoon that day. We spent some more time in the swing until it wasn't too hot to dip in the waters. Please note that the beach isn't ideal for kids and the elderly with knee problems since it's very rocky and the waves could get pretty rough during the last quarter of the year.
When the sun's heat was bearable, into the water I ran and enjoyed the waves with the rest of my friends. It still makes me laugh every time I remember how we were arguing whether we should also visit another famous beach located in Badian (adjacent town to Alegria). There were plenty of speculations as to why we shouldn't go. Although I personally want to visit the place even for 15 minutes, there's nothing I can do since everyone agreed to stay in Rio Beach until sunset.
Another pictorial, this time showcasing the warm light of the sun and my awkward modeling skills haha 😂
I love sunrise, but there's this thoughtless charm that sunset radiates more than sunrises do. This is on top of the fact that I am not a morning person. There's healing that sunset never fails to ignite deep within me; it reminds me of so many things in my life both good and bad, and why I still have to move forward despite all the reasons not to. That's why I always grab the best spot possible whenever there's a chance to watch the sun as it goes back to its mother's womb. And this travel wasn't an exception. I sat at the end of the beach and savored a blessing from above - a moment of peace, of solitude, of reflection.
The family that eats together grows (bigger) together 😆
After sundown, we headed to the Resort's common kitchen and cooked our dinner for that night. It was a team effort to prepare everything as deliciously and as fast as possible (we have one preggy mom with us).
It was dinner time with my Bogo Family. It was our first dinner together after more than 8 months of virtually hanging out together. We shared grilled pork, chicken adobo to name a few.
Game face on
Playing Uno cards was a trend a few years back. But there's this stern warning not to play the game with your friends or your loved ones since the game may require you to be a bit harsh at some point (if you want to win). In short, if you want to keep your friendship, you might want to skip playing Uno. But that night, we gave it a try. It was my first time playing the game (I haven't tried a lot of things haha); it was my first time hearing the rules as well. I could say I got a bit excited while playing that I clearly abide by the rules that relationships shouldn't get in the way of winning. If you're curious to know, I won a battle against my lover. I had to hug him tight after setting aside our relationship during the conduct of the game (a year later, we're still together)! 😂
After playing the game and after all the food and drinks were consumed, my friends decided to head inside our room. On the other hand, my boyfriend and I stayed in the garden, talked about one thing that led to another and another until we lost track of the time. It was almost four (4) in the morning when we headed inside to take a few hours of sleep. This night will forever be remembered since there were a few important things that were brought to my attention.
Cooking for my loved ones
I love to prepare great food for the people I love. That's why the following morning, I prepared our breakfast with a little help from everyone. It's our last meal before we checked out and head back to the city. Again, this was just a very short vacation.
Before this trip, I asked my friends what they want to eat for breakfast. Each one of them demanded something which I couldn't help but grant. There were hotdogs, chicken tocino, hungarian sausage, chorizo to name a few.
Then we shared what I prepared, immediately after we left the place and headed back to Cebu City. We had a buffet lunch in Carcar City courtesy of our generous Lolo (grandfather), Jelo. He ain't that old and we aren't his grandkids; he was just somehow assigned to be the Lolo of the family. 😅
I guess that's all for my first post lockdown trip! I hope I was able to give justice to the beauty of Rio Beach Resort in Alegria.
Leaving you guys with a photo of me enjoying the waves as if there's no tomorrow. 😂 Hope this reminds you that life is too short not to take a moment to let all the simple things bring the purest of joy to our souls!
See you in my next post! ❤️
