If you have been following my publications these days, you will have seen that the protagonist is the town of Calderas, Barinas state (Venezuela) and its exotic surroundings, including the Devil's Corridors, which I recently reviewed. This time I will show you the last place we visited on the first day of excursions of this three-day trip.
Si han seguido mis publicaciones en estos días, habrán visto que el protagonista es el pueblo de Calderas, estado Barinas (Venezuela) y sus exóticos alrededores, entre ellos los Corredores del Diablo, que reseñé recientemente. En esta ocasión les mostraré el último lugar que visitamos en el primer día de excursiones de este viaje de tres días.
After enjoying the river and the stunning scenery of the Devil's Corridors, we return by the steep trail to the Little Coffee Town Don Rafa, which we met in the morning, we rest a little there taking more delicious coffee and then we continue with our itinerary. On the way we pass through the plantations that are there, with beautiful flowers and coffee plants.
Después de disfrutar del río y el impactante paisaje de Los Corredores del Diablo, nos regresamos por el empinado sendero hacia el Pueblito Cafetalero Don Rafa, el cual conocimos en la mañana, descansamos un poco allí tomando más café delicioso y luego seguimos con nuestro itinerario. En la ruta atravesamos los sembradíos que hay allí, con hermosas flores y plantas de café.
In this forest where coffee and other crops are harvested, they have also put some picturesque little houses for the birds, they look like a fairy tale.
En este bosque donde se cosecha café y otros cultivos han puesto también unas pintorescas casitas para las aves, parecen de cuento.
A few minutes later we arrive near the Río Azul (Blue River), in El Cobre sector, and there is Cobre's Bridge, a simple structure that stands out among the natural beauty of the place.
Pocos minutos después llegamos cerca del Río Azul, en el sector El Cobre, y allí está el Puente del Cobre, una estructura sencilla pero que destaca entre la belleza natural del lugar.
The guide told us that we should cross it only a few people at a time, since in some parts the wooden planks with which it is made have some separation and it was better to avoid putting too much weight on the bridge.
El guía nos dijo que debíamos cruzarlo pocas personas a la vez, ya que en algunas partes las tablas de madera con las que está hecho tienen algo de separación y era mejor evitar ponerle mucho peso al puente.
The river around here looks pretty wild with those huge rocks, its flow was not strong at that time but when the rains come the level rises.
El río por aquí luce bastante salvaje con esas enormes piedras, su caudal no era fuerte en ese momento pero cuando las lluvias llegan el nivel sube.
On the other side there is a pool that forms there and that is why many people come here to take a refreshing bath, icy rather 😂.
Del otro lado hay una poza que se forma allí y por eso muchas personas vienen para acá a darse un refrescante baño, helado más bien 😂.
According to what the guide told us (the boy in the light blue T-Shirt you see in the photo below), the Cobre's Bridge dates back to 1994 and was an initiative of Don Rafael Vásquez. It was built by master builder Teófilo Rangel and his assistant Guzmán Gallardo so that coffee growers in the area could take their crops to Calderas and from there to other parts of the country.
Según nos contó el guía (el chico de la franela azul clara que ven en la foto que sigue), el Puente del Cobre data de 1994 y fue iniciativa de Don Rafael Vásquez. Lo construyó el maestro Teófilo Rangel junto a su ayudante Guzmán Gallardo para que los productores de café de la zona pudieran llevar sus cosechas a Calderas y de ahí a otras partes del país.
As you can see, the bases of this community work are made of cement and small stones, resting on the large rocks of the river, and the part where you walk is made of wood with ropes on the sides for protection.
Como pueden ver, las bases de esta obra comunitaria hechas de cemento y pequeñas piedras, reposan sobre las grandes rocas del río, y la parte por donde se transita es de madera con sogas a los lados como protección.
When we went down to the riverbed I saw its beautiful blue bottom with small stones and I was able to capture in the photo a cute yellow butterfly that perched there for a few seconds.
Cuando bajamos al lecho del río vi su bello fondo azul con pequeñas piedras y pude capturar en la foto a una linda mariposa amarilla que se posó allí unos segundos.
Then we walked to a farm where we could see some crops that are also produced here, such as bananas.
Luego caminamos hacia una hacienda donde pudimos ver algunos cultivos que también se producen mucho acá, como el cambur (bananas).
And of course there were more coffee plants around.
Y por supuesto había más plantas de café por aquí.
We rested for a while in that beautiful forest with pleasant aromas of the vegetation and then we started our way back.
Descansamos un rato en ese hermoso bosque con agradables aromas de la vegetación y luego emprendimos el camino de regreso.
We crossed over the Cobre's Bridge again and this time I took the opportunity to take a shot as I passed the separate planks, and stood for a few seconds watching the water circulate underneath.
Volvimos a cruzar por el Puente del Cobre y esta vez aproveché para hacer una toma cuando pasé por las tablas separadas, y me quedé unos segundos viendo el agua circular debajo.
We arrived at our inn in the center of the town of Calderas at about 6:00 in the evening, and thus finished with the itinerary of this first day.
Llegamos a nuestra posada en el centro del pueblo de Calderas como a las 6:00 de la tarde, y así terminamos con el itinerario de este primer día.
