In February of this year 2023 I made an excursion that took me to amazing places first because I had always believed that the state of Barinas in Venezuela was an area of the plains and partly so, only that I did not know its mountainous area in the Andes, It was 3 days that I stayed between mountains and waterfalls like the Volcanera Waterfall, when we returned from it we made a stop to go to pozo azul, going a little up the mountain and then we descended on a hike to the path that led to the well, first we had to ask permission from the lady who is in charge of this area, she is the owner of the land where the well is located and the one who takes the tourists to the place.

En febrero de este año 2023 realicé una excursión que me llevo a lugares sorprendentes primero porque siempre había creído que el estado Barinas en Venezuela era una zona de los llanos y en parte así es, solo que no conocía su zona montañosa en la cordillera de los Andes, fueron 3 días que me mantuve entre montañas y cascadas como la Cascada La Volcanera al regresar de ella hicimos una parada para ir a pozo azul desviándonos un poco montaña arriba y luego descendimos en una caminata hasta el sendero que abría paso para el pozo, primero tuvimos que pedir permiso a la señora que está encargada de esta zona, es la dueña del terreno donde se ubica el pozo y la que lleva a los turistas hasta el lugar.

Like all lakes, it has many myths and legends.

Ese día la señora no estaba dispuesta a ceder el paso, no quería que nadie viera el lago ni decía sus motivos, yo quería ir, era uno de los lugares que quería conocer, después de unos 30 minutos de conversaciones y acuerdos entre el guía y la señora encargada de cuidar el lago decidió dar el permiso dejando unas advertencias antes de seguir.

No podíamos tocar el agua y menos bañarnos, no se debía hablar en voz alta ni hacer ruido, debido a las leyendas que envuelven a este pozo azul la más importante es que está prohibido bañarse en él, ya que si lo hacen el pueblo sufrirá las consecuencias y se hundirá, es decir desaparecerá bajo el agua, por inundaciones y fuertes lluvias, por eso los lugareños no están dispuestos a correr el riesgo, no se puede hablar fuerte para no enojar las deidades, duendes y hadas de la naturaleza porque cuando las personas hacen caso omiso a estas recomendaciones todos los habitantes pagan las consecuencias se dice que existen desapariciones de personas y animales que tienen la osadía de sumergirse en las aguas del lago. Como todo lago tiene muchos mitos y leyendas.

Una vez que la señora permitió la entrada del grupo, unas 30 personas nos llevó por la montaña hasta el lago, tuvimos que cruzar algunos riachuelos, sembradíos de plantas de café, plátanos, cambures, entre otras, rodeados de muchos árboles íbamos uno detrás de otro, viendo el camino de tierra en silencio observando la naturaleza, sabíamos que solo íbamos a contemplar el lago porque no se permite que lo toquen y mucho menos que se bañen en él, por las mismas leyendas que la señora me contó cuando llegamos.

I really wanted to meet him whenever I saw his pictures it seemed magical, with such a deep blue and at the same time transparent, when I arrived I noticed that it is surrounded by a swamp as if trying to protect itself, the water of the well does not run at least it seems, but it is not a water that looks dirty as it happens with the stagnant water wells, I had my eyes on it and it inspired me respect, I felt I had to keep my distance, I could see some giant roots inside it, being there you can hear a current of water, as if a big river was near, but you can't see anything increasing the mystery that surrounds it.

The legend says that no one who gets into the lake can get out, neither people nor animals like the macaw which is a kind of giant rodent expert swimmer, the locals mention that the depth of the well is unknown and have tried to measure it with long rods of more than 30 meters and never touch the bottom, you can hear a loud sound of water falling like a waterfall, but you do not see anything around just the still lake of a deep blue.

Yo tenía muchas ganas de conocerlo siempre que veía sus fotos me parecía mágico, con un azul tan profundo y a la vez transparente, cuando llegue observe que está rodeado de un pantano como si tratara de protegerse, el agua del pozo no corre por lo menos eso parece, pero tampoco es un agua que se vea sucia como ocurre con los pozos de agua estancada, pose mis ojos sobre él y me inspiro respeto, sentí que debía mantener la distancia pude ver unas raíces gigantes en su interior, estando allí se escucha una corriente de agua, como si un río grande estuviera cerca, pero no ves nada aumentando el misterio que lo rodea.

La leyenda dice que nadie que se meta al lago puede salir, ni personas ni animales como la lapa que es una especie de roedor gigante experta nadadora, los lugareños mencionan que se desconoce la profundidad del pozo y que han intentado medirlo con varas largas de más de 30 metros y nunca tocan el fondo, se puede escuchar un fuerte sonido de agua cayendo como una cascada, pero no se ve nada al alrededor solo el lago quieto de un azul profundo.

Entre las leyendas hay una de los tiempos de la guerra de independencia, en el que más de 35 hombres decidieron acampar a la orilla del lago y sumergirse, desapareciendo completo todo el batallón. También de un joven rebelde que decidió romper con este mito y se fue al lago con un grupo de amigos para comprobar que todo era mentira, se metió a nadar y nunca más salió. Los lugareños dicen que por fuera se ve el agua sin movimiento, pero una vez adentro hay una corriente profunda como arenas movedizas que succiona a las personas llevándoselas a otro mundo.

La señora que permitió la visita al pozo azul me dijo que ella es la encargada actual de cuidar esta zona, ya que la responsabilidad pasa de generación en generación, su familia asumió esta tarea porque en sueños a su tatarabuelo se le apareció un ángel y le dijo que cuidara del lago para que él y su familia fueran bendecidos con larga vida y salud y hasta el momento todos en su familia han gozado de una vida longeva con salud. El lago tiene una belleza hipnotizante, parece un paraíso y provoca meterse, pero es mejor prevenir que lamentar porque la curiosidad mato al gato, todo el grupo se dedicó a tomarse fotos y a mirar este hermoso lugar.
