Continuing the series of interesting places from Rytro and the surrounding area, I went a little further to Muszyna. It's about 30 kilometers from my accommodation, but it was worth it. Today you will see an interesting phenomenon, orange spots on the ground. I learned about this phenomenon for the first time this year. This is a very rare phenomenon in Poland, its name is Mofeta.
Kontynuując cykl ciekawych miejsc z Rytra i okolic, wybrałem się nieco dalej pod Muszynę. Jest to około 30 kilometrów od mojego miejsca noclegu, ale było warto. Zobaczycie dzisiaj ciekawe zjawisko, pomarańczowych plam na ziemi. Dowiedziałem się o tym zjawisku pierwszy raz w tym roku. Jest to bardzo rzadkie zjawisko w Polsce, jego nazwa to Mofeta.
There is a small parking lot by the road where you can park your car, it can only accommodate 2-3 cars, so it's hard to find a free space, especially during the holiday season. A lot of people come by bike (there are parking racks), this is one of the stops on the bicycle trail from the spa water cycle in the area. Right next to the parking lot there is a descent down to a small forest.
Przy drodze jest mały parking, gdzie można zaparkować samochód, mieści się tam jedynie 2-3 samochody więc ciężko znaleźć wolne miejsce, szczególnie w wakacyjnym sezonie. Sporo osób przyjeżdża rowerami (są stojaki do parkowania), jest to jeden z przystanków szlaku rowerowego z cyklu wód uzdrowiskowych okolicy. Zaraz przy parkingu jest zejście w dół do małego lasu.

Mofeta is a mixture of various gases, especially carbon dioxide, emerging from the interior of the earth. This orange, rusty color is a sediment formed by gases, water and bacteria. I didn't go into details, I only remembered a few pieces of information from the board describing this phenomenon. For those curious, you will certainly find more details on the Internet.
Mofeta to wydobywająca się z wnętrza ziemi mieszanka różnych gazów, szczególnie dwutlenku węgla. Ten pomarańczowy, rdzawy kolor to osad, który powstaje przy udziale gazów, wody i bakterii. Nie zagłębiałem się w szczegóły, zapamiętałem jedynie kilka informacji z tablicy opisującej to zjawisko. Dla ciekawskich, z pewnością więcej szczegółów znajdziecie w internecie.

It is a beautiful phenomenon, but it can also be very dangerous. From the story I learned that such gas can be harmful in large quantities, especially when it accumulates in the valley and is not moved (blown away) by the wind. You may encounter dead insects or birds. There were cases where such gas also killed stray sheep grazing in nearby meadows. Apparently this carbon dioxide in the old days also seeped into the basements of people living in the area, posing a serious threat (when they were leaky), and even killed people who were digging water wells by hand.
Jest to piękne zjawisko, ale bywa również bardzo groźne. Z opowieści dowiedziałem się, że taki gaz bywa szkodliwy w dużych ilościach, szczególnie gdy gromadzi się w dolinie i nie jest przemieszczany (wywiewany) przez wiatr. Spotkać można nieżywe owady lub ptaki. Były przypadki, że taki gaz uśmiercał również zabłąkane owce wypasające się na pobliskich łąkach. Podobno ten dwutlenek węgla w dawnych czasach również przedostawał się do piwnic ludzi mieszkających w okolicach, stwarzając poważne zagrożenie (gdy były nieszczelne), a nawet zabijał ludzi kopiących ręcznie studnie na wodę.

It is quite difficult to capture in photos the moment of gases escaping, which create bubbles in the water. It looks more interesting in real life. Gases from the earth penetrate through various layers of earth and water, creating these Mofets, and can create mineral and spa waters for which the Muszyna area is famous.
Na zdjęciach jest dość ciężko uchwycić moment wydobywających się gazów, które tworzą w wodzie bąbelki. Na żywo wygląda to ciekawiej. Gazy z ziemi przenikają przez różne warstwy ziemi i wód, tworząc te właśnie Mofety, oraz mogą tworzyć wody mineralne i uzdrowiskowe, z których okolica Muszyny słynie.

To better expose this phenomenon, several hollow tree trunks were immersed in water, a mini well and a footbridge were also prepared from which you can observe the Mofets. In addition to several places where gas is coming out of the ground, there is also a small stream of water flowing through, also rusty in color.
Dla lepszego wyeksponowania tego zjawiska zanurzono w wodzie kilka wydrążonych pni drzew, przygotowano również mini studnię i kładkę, z której można obserwować Mofety. Oprócz kilku miejsc, z których wydobywa się gaz z ziemi, jest też przepływający mały strumień wody, też w kolorze rdzawym.
