Not to long ago I managed to get my girlfriend to join Hive. She's incredibly creative and I just knew that Hive would be a place that she would like. It didn't take long for her to build a decent following and find some people to follow and connect with. Now she's also started her very own blogging challenge! I'm late to the party, but this is my entry.
Check out her original post of the challenge HERE if you want to get in on the fun.
The challenge is quite simple.
Answer these questions:
- What have you done in November?
- What are your plans for December and the new year?
- How's 2021 treated you so far?
Simple enough. Let's do this!
What have I done in November?
Actually this wasn't so simple to answer after all. Off the top of my head I couldn't remember what I did in November. I'm not good at separating the past into months and weeks. It all just becomes the past in my head. As a solution I delved into my iPhones gallery to see what I could find.
Joining the Rare Ghost Club!
One of the first things I found was my Rare Ghosts! Turns out I joined the Rare Ghost Club early in November thanks to . I'm still holding all my ghosts and I don't regret getting into that club for a second. It's gonna go big in the future. I'm sure of it.
Trying out Meal Kits!
A concept that has been growing in popularity these last few years are meal kits. It's basically a food delivery that you get once a week containing the ingredients you need to make a set amount of meals. Mostly dinners. We've never tried this before but got a coupon for a free kit from one of her friends which meant we got five free dinners!
After getting the first kit for free we got the next few boxes at 30% off, so we continued for two weeks. That got us dinners for a week at a cost of about $60. Not bad for two people at all. All of the recipes come on their own little sheet of paper and we're gonna be storing those for the future. There were a lot of decent meals in here, asian tacos I think being our favorites.
Surprising my dad!
My dad turned 50 in May. I was meant to get him tickets to a stand-up show with one of his favorite comedians but the shows were cancelled due to Covid. I sort of ended up forgetting about the whole thing until the show popped up in my feed one day. They had set new dates for November! I quickly booked tickets without telling my dad a single word.
The show was the weekend after Father's Day and on Father's Day I messaged him to tell him I had booked a table at a decent burger restaurant for next weekend. Belated celebrations of Father's Day. Coincidentally this was right next to the venue where the show would be. He still knew nothing.
When the day was there we met up at the restaurant, had our meal and did some chatting. I "lied" and said we only had the table reserved until 20:15 so we would have to go soon. As we walked by the venue we looked up at the placard to see what show was playing. He still had no idea. We stopped and I asked if we should go in. "Probably sold out", he said. "Nope, I have four tickets", I said.
The look in his eyes when he realized what was happening was indescribable. He got happier than I've ever seen him and we had one hell of a time at the show. We laughed pretty much all the way through.
What are your plans for December?
Not much really. For teachers, December tends to be mostly a stressful month. With the first term coming to an end there's a lot of evaluations to do and grades to set for each student I have. My plan was to work and that's mostly what I have been doing. Except for this last week where I've been mostly ill and staying at home playing video games.
I haven't really had the time to get in the festive mood yet. Me and went to a Christmas marked not far from where we live and that was quite cozy. I felt quite festive for a little bit then, quite strengthened by the snow and cold weather. Coincidentally we stumbled upon an event in the woods on our way back home. A childrens choir was singing Christmas songs and they were lighting up a huge tree with Christmas lights. That was quite cozy.
How has 2021 treated you so far?
Quite good. Quite good indeed. Covid has of course been an ass but that's just how life is at the moment. On the other hand I've found a workplace where I love being (quite the opposite of in fact). I started working at this school in November last year but just before the summer they offered to renew my contract for another year. This is an awesome school to work at so I hope they want to keep me around even longer as well.
The summer months were definitely my favorite months of this year. As a teacher I get seven weeks of vacation during the summer and these months were spent on nothing but fun. Me and did a bit of traveling and a lot of geocaching. We went on so many awesome hikes and discovered a lot of new places in our area and town.
