Hola mis apreciados padres y madres. En una publicación anterior les comenté, como la ansiedad puede afectar a nuestros hijos en la etapa escolar; esto debido a la constante emisión de evaluaciones y trabajos, los cuales no dejan espacio para que los muchachos realicen otras actividades, esto lo enfaticé específicamente a nivel universitario. Por otro lado no entiendo, que si las clases están al 100% presenciales, los profesores no explican las clases y realizan evaluaciones sobre ello; al contrario, a pesar de que nuestros hijos van a clases, la mayoría de la actividades las realizan a distancia, enviando investigaciones que muchas veces ni ellos mismos las pueden ubicar. Yo como docente, aprovecho al máximo la asistencia diaria a clases de los jóvenes, procurando explicar las clases y si se entiende totalmente, también aprovecho esos conocimientos frescos y los evalúo.

Hello my dear parents. In a previous publication I commented to you, how anxiety can affect our children in the school stage; this due to the constant issuance of evaluations and work, which do not leave space for the children to perform other activities, this I emphasized specifically at the university level. On the other hand, I do not understand that if the classes are 100% face-to-face, the teachers do not explain the classes and make evaluations about it; on the contrary, even though our children go to classes, most of the activities are done remotely, sending research that many times they themselves cannot locate. As a teacher, I make the most of the daily class attendance of young people, trying to explain the classes and if it is fully understood, I also take advantage of that fresh knowledge and evaluate it.

De igual manera les comenté, que toda esta situación tenía a mi hija muy agobiada, por lo que sus niveles de ansiedad estaban por las nubes. También indiqué que había una materia que la tenía como loca porque sus calificaciones estaban por el suelo; en pocas palabras iba muy mal. Por ello, se encontraba en depresión, y a pesar de que es muy joven, ella es muy sensible y decae con facilidad. Nancy está en el semestre 5 de Ingeniería Naval. Afortunadamente, no dejo de aconsejarla, siempre hablo con ella para calmarla, y decirle que poco a poco las cosas llegan a feliz termino; y que estando bajo los efectos de la depresión y ansiedad no va a lograr nada, porque al final hay que enfrentar los problemas. Ella en ese momento estuvo pensando que no podría pasar esa materia.

Pero como siempre le digo, luego de toda tormenta llega la calma, y al parecer eso lo ha entendido porque la veo más calmada, un poco más organizada planificando todas sus actividades; y lo más importante se ha abierto la posibilidad de aprobar la materia, porque debido a su constancia, dedicación, y el levantarse con más fuerza, ha permitido que en las dos últimas evaluaciones se haya desenvuelto muy bien sacando buenas calificaciones; restan 6 puntos por evaluar y debe sacar 3 de ellos. Como dicen en el argot deportivo, la clasificación está en sus manos sin depender de otros resultados. Y por su puesto que lo vas a lograr hija, nada es fácil, pero tampoco imposible.

I also told them that this whole situation had my daughter very overwhelmed, so her anxiety levels were sky high. I also indicated that there was one subject that had her going crazy because her grades were at rock bottom; in short, she was doing very poorly. Because of this, she was in depression, and even though she is very young, she is very sensitive and declines easily. Nancy is in her 5th semester of Naval Engineering. Fortunately, I never stop advising her, I always talk to her to calm her down, and tell her that little by little things come to a happy ending; and that being under the effects of depression and anxiety will not achieve anything, because in the end you have to face the problems. At that moment she was thinking that she would not be able to pass that subject.

But as I always tell her, after every storm comes the calm, and apparently she has understood that because I see her calmer, a little more organized planning all her activities; and the most important thing has opened the possibility of passing the subject, because due to her perseverance, dedication, and getting up with more strength, has allowed that in the last two evaluations she has performed very well getting good grades; there are 6 points left to evaluate and she must get 3 of them. As they say in the sports jargon, the classification is in his hands without depending on other results. And of course you are going to make it, daughter, nothing is easy, but nothing is impossible either.

Como les he dicho con anterioridad, Nancy estudia Ingeniería Naval en la Universidad Nacional Experimental de las Fuerzas Armadas UNEFA, extensión ubicada aquí en Cumaná estado Sucre, Venezuela. Por ello, y como parte de la adquisición de experiencia en la carrera, tuvieron el privilegio de visitar y realizar recorrido al Buque Escuela Simón Bolívar, el cual luego de casi 4 años, ha arribado a nuestra ciudad. Para quienes no lo conocen, este buque tiene como función principal, y como su nombre lo indica, servir a la formación de estudiantes o cadetes de la Escuela Naval de Venezuela. Esta embarcación es nuestro embajador en aguas marinas del mundo. Aquí mismo en Venezuela, muchos conocen este buque por fotos y por lo que pueden conocer por la Internet, ya que si en los estados que integran la nación no hay mar, lógicamente el buque no puede llegar a esos espacios.

Así como indiqué, Nancy y su grupo de compañeros tuvieron la dicha de visitarlo, y por ser estudiantes de Naval tuvieron la oportunidad de recorrerlo más a fondo; yo también lo conocí y junto a mi hija tomamos fotos, pero ella estaba emocionada, además estaba en su elemento, por lo que me dediqué a tomar fotografías para que ella apareciera en la mayoría. Todo esto sirvió de agente liberador de estrés para ambos. En válido destacar, que todo lo que de aquí en adelante puedan leer, es decir toda la información que se presente, provino directamente de lo que decía el guía asignado para ese recorrido. Podrán conocer ciertas partes de la embarcación, y algunos detalles de la misma que realmente no conocíamos. El recorrido se hizo en la tarde, por lo que podrán ver el momento de un hermoso atardecer.

As I have told you before, Nancy is studying Naval Engineering at the Universidad Nacional Experimental de las Fuerzas Armadas UNEFA, extension located here in Cumaná, Sucre state, Venezuela. For this reason, and as part of the acquisition of experience in the career, they had the privilege of visiting and touring the Simón Bolívar School Ship, which after almost 4 years, has arrived in our city. For those who do not know it, this ship's main function, as its name indicates, is to serve the training of students or cadets of the Venezuelan Naval School. As I indicated, Nancy and her group of classmates had the joy of visiting it, and being Naval students they had the opportunity to tour it more thoroughly; I also got to know it and together with my daughter we took pictures, but she was excited, plus she was in her element, so I dedicated myself to take pictures so that she would appear in most of them. All of this served as a stress relieving agent for both of us. It is worth mentioning that everything you will read from here on, that is, all the information presented here, came directly from what the guide assigned for this tour said. You will be able to know certain parts of the boat, and some details of the boat that we really did not know. The tour was done in the afternoon, so you will be able to see the moment of a beautiful sunset.

En la cubierta de la nave ocurre una atracción especial de parte de un pirata, que se encarga de subir por las cuerdas con un catalejo (es como un binocular, pero en este caso, monocular). De verdad pasamos un momento divertido; hasta Nancy se tomó una foto con este pirata. Allí mismo en la cubierta, la embarcación tiene como una especie de brújula, eso es lo que pensábamos; sin embargo, el guía nos dijo que ese instrumento se llama clinómetro, y es el encargado de verificar la escora con respecto al mar; aquí paramos y preguntamos ¿qué es escora?; nos dijo que en términos coloquiales, el clinómetro determina la inclinación de la nave con respecto al mar, escora se refiere a la inclinación.

On the deck of the ship there is a special attraction on the part of a pirate, who is in charge of climbing the ropes with a spyglass (it is like a binocular, but in this case, monocular). We really had a fun time; Nancy even had her picture taken with this pirate. Right there on the deck, the boat has a kind of compass, that's what we thought; however, the guide told us that this instrument is called clinometer, and it is in charge of verifying the heel with respect to the sea; here we stopped and asked what is heel?; he told us that in colloquial terms, the clinometer determines the inclination of the ship with respect to the sea, heel refers to the inclination.

Siguiendo con el recorrido nos encontramos con una gran hélice, y un gran ancla; éstas son, de acuerdo al guía, repuestos en caso de ser necesaria la utilización de cada uno de ellos. De igual manera nos encontramos con una especie de bodega, la cual en tiempos anteriores, como la embarcación no tenía ningún tipo de refrigeración, allí era donde retenían animales vivos para su posterior consumo como alimentos. De verdad que esta nave es impresionante, muy hermosa, y tiene muchas partes que visitar. En este día hubo demasiada gente dentro de ella, y los guías no eran suficientes, yo creo que ninguno se imaginaba que la población cumanesa asistiría en masa para visitar. Pero bueno, la idea es que todos conozcan tan emblemática embarcación, porque para luego es tarde.

Más adelante observamos como una especie de bomba, eso creí que era cuando lo vi a lo lejos; lo cierto es que es un sistema de fondeo, el cual se encarga de mantener lo más estática posible a la embarcación, actuando en conjunto con la cadena y el ancla llegando hasta el fondo para lograr tal fin. Realmente hay dos sistemas de fondeo, uno para babor (lado izquierdo), y otro para estribor (lado derecho), Nancy también me explicó todo esto. También me llamó la atención que habían una serie de cubetas con arena; por lo que le preguntaron al guía cual era su función. El guía nos dijo que actualmente son decorativos; sin embargo, en los inicios de la embarcación, cuando ocurrían peleas o accidentes y había alguien herido, la sangre quedaba en el piso, por lo que la arena de las cubetas se vertía sobre la sangre para facilitar la limpieza. Que cosas.

Continuing with the tour we found a large propeller, and a large anchor; these are, according to the guide, spare parts in case the use of each of them is necessary. In the same way we find a kind of warehouse, which in former times, as the boat did not have any type of refrigeration, it was there where they kept live animals for later consumption as food. Truly this ship is impressive, very beautiful, and has many parts to visit. On this day there were too many people inside, and the guides were not enough, I think none of them imagined that the population of Cumana would come en masse to visit. But well, the idea is that everyone gets to know this emblematic boat, because by then it is too late.

Further ahead we observed a kind of pump, that's what I thought it was when I saw it in the distance; the truth is that it is an anchoring system, which is in charge of keeping the boat as static as possible, acting together with the chain and the anchor reaching the bottom to achieve this purpose. Actually there are two anchoring systems, one for port (left side), and one for starboard (right side), Nancy also explained all this to me. It also caught my attention that there were a series of basins with sand, so I asked the guide what their function was. The guide told us that nowadays they are decorative; however, in the early days of the boat, when fights or accidents occurred and someone was injured, the blood was left on the floor, so the sand in the buckets was poured over the blood to facilitate cleaning. What a thing.

Para finalizar puedo decir, que esta experiencia tanto para Nancy, como para mí fue verdaderamente gratificante, el recorrido llevó bastante tiempo pero vale la pena vivir este hermoso momento. Quien no haya tenido la dicha de visitar este buque, y le llegue la oportunidad de hacerlo, de todo corazón les digo, no la pierdan, es una experiencia única. Además, nos quedamos un poco en el muelle para disfrutar de un hermoso atardecer, y aquí se los mostramos a ustedes para que disfruten. Por lo pronto, mi hija Nancy ya está superando sus obstáculo, y poco a poco irá comprendiendo que las cosas se logran con esfuerzo y dedicación, que la constancia premia. Pendientes mi gente de Margarita; porque el Buque Escuela Simón Bolívar ya partió hacia el estado Nueva Esparta. To conclude I can say that this experience for both Nancy and me was truly gratifying, the tour took quite a long time but it is worth living this beautiful moment.
