My first morels ever! Had to get out the macro lens for this 😍
What an exciting #mushroommonday!
We moved to Vermont last fall and got hooked on foraging for mushrooms. A more experienced forager has been saying its time to get out and look for morels. We found these on a trail at a state park. The morels were on the forest floor.
Fungi on the tree with the trail marker must be a good sign 😁
Also got in some herping. We moved to some rock scrabble under a rockface to look for snakes.
The rock scrabble was full of snakes. Snakes like the warming weather kind of like the morels the warming weather.
This was a large rat snake 4' to 5'. Rat snakes are rare in Vermont.
The snakes are just now moving out of dens. This little garter snake has the blue eyes characteristic of a snake about to shed.
What an awesome Monday hike!
