In these last 2 weeks, I started watching movies or series that have any relation to the world of cooking. There is a lot of content that I haven't seen in this environment that I haven't seen so I went into my accounts of the streaming services I have contracted and started to fill my list with all the content I saw, regardless of the reviews or rating. The latter is important to me, as human beings tend to be conditioned by the opinion of others. If a person tells you that a movie or series is bad, you start watching it looking for any detail to agree with that person, especially if they are influential people.
En estas 2 últimas semanas, me puesto a ver películas o series que tengan relación alguna con el mundo de la cocina. Hay mucho contenido que no he visto en este entorno que no he visto así que entre en mis cuentas de los servicios de streaming que tengo contratado y comencé a llenar mi lista con todo contenido que veía, independiente de las criticas o la calificación. Esto último es importante para mí, ya que los seres humanos solemos condicionarnos con la opinión de los demás. Si una persona te dice que es mala una película o serie, comienzas a verla buscando cualquier detalle para dar la razón, sobre todo si son personas influyentes.

Why do I say this before talking about this movie? The reason is because it is not a movie that stands out for having the best storyline, direction, effects, etc. So, if I do my review from those points, sure I give this movie 5 out of 10 points. But I have learned to put those things aside and evaluate movies by the way they made me feel, if I had a good time, if I laughed, if they made me cry, that is, if I could somehow connect with the message, with the situation, etc. I have discovered that leaving aside the technical aspects, I can find out if a film or series can really go beyond a rude critique.
¿Por qué comento esto antes de hablar de esta película? La razón es porque no es una película que resalta por tener el mejor guion, dirección, efectos, etc. Entonces, si hago mi reseña desde esos puntos, seguro le doy a esta película 5 de 10 puntos. Pero he aprendido a dejar esas cosas de lado y a evaluar las películas por la forma en que me hicieron sentir, si la pase bien, si me reí, si me hicieron llorar, es decir, si de alguna forma me pude conectar con el mensaje, con la situación, etc. He descubierto que dejando de lado lo técnico, se puede descubrir si realmente una película o serie puede llegar más allá de una crítica ruda.

That said, Burnt tells the story of a chef who is famous for how well he can cook. This film takes us into the life of Adam Jones, an acclaimed and hated chef who struggles with addictions, guilt, pride, romance, etc. A good recipe shows us haute cuisine, dishes that only a michelin star restaurant serves, competitiveness and passion for who does things best, techniques and a lot of movie time inside a kitchen or restaurant.
Dicho eso, una buena receta nos cuenta la vida de un Cheff famoso por lo bien que sabe cocinar. Esta película nos lleva a ver la vida de Adam Jones, un aclamado y odiado cocinero que lucha contra adicciones, sentimientos de culpa, orgullo, romance, etc. Una buena receta nos muestra alta cocina, platos que solo sirve un restaurante con estrellas michelin, nos muestra competitividad y pasión por quien hace mejor las cosas, técnicas y mucho tiempo de película dentro de una cocina o restaurante.

You don't need to know more as a review, the best thing would be to go see the movie, but today I want to tell you why I'm writing about it, but before that and I'm sure you've already noticed from the movie poster, the main character is Bradley Cooper, an actor that honestly doesn't make me inclined to see a movie. If he's the lead for me it's fine, if he's not, it's fine for me anyway. By this I mean I'm not a fan of his, but I don't dislike him either. I recognize his strengths and weaknesses and I have enjoyed and at the same time not, movies where he is or is only the voice of a character.
No necesitas saber más como reseña, lo mejor sería ir a ver la película, pero hoy te quiero contar porque escribo de ella, pero antes de ese y de seguro ya te disté cuenta por el poster de la película, el protagonista es Bradley Cooper, un actor que honestamente no me hace inclinar a ver una película. Si es protagonista para mi está bien, sino lo es, para mi está bien igual. Con esto quiero decir no soy fan de él, pero tampoco me disgusta. Reconozco sus fortalezas y debilidades y he disfrutado y al mismo tiempo no, películas donde el esta o solamente es la voz de un personaje.

Why did I like Burnt? Nowadays I have become very connected to the world of cooking, so I have enjoyed these types of films from another perspective. I love to see the passion that the actors put into cooking, they somehow transmit the energy and the controlled chaos of a busy restaurant kitchen. Sometimes I say that it is too exaggerated the exhausting way in which movies show how to cook, but it is not something that escapes reality and depends on many factors.
¿Por qué me gusto una buena receta? Actualmente me he conectado bastante con el mundo de la cocina, entonces este tipo de películas las he disfrutado desde otra perspectiva. Me encanta ver la pasión que pusieron los actores al momento de estar cocinando, de alguna forma transmiten la energía y el caos controlado que hay en una cocina de un restaurante concurrido. A veces digo que es demasiado exagerado la forma agotadora en que en las películas presentan como se cocina, pero no es algo que escapa de la realidad y depende muchos factores.

Another aspect I like about the film is that it takes place in England, a place that I am somehow fond of, without forgetting that we will hear some French, a language that cannot be missing when it comes to haute cuisine. Somehow the film conveys that energy of being in the kitchen, that passion for fresh ingredients, the stress of getting everything perfect and even more so when the chef who runs the kitchen is a perfectionist.
Otro aspecto que me gusta de la película es que se desenvuelve en Inglaterra, un lugar que de alguna forma le tengo aprecio, sin dejar de lado que escucharemos un poco de francés, un idioma que no puede faltar cuando se trata de alta cocina. De alguna forma la película transmite ese en energía de estar en la cocina, esa pasión por ingredientes frescos, el estrés de que todo salga perfecto y más cuando el chef que dirige la cocina es un perfeccionista.

Despite the culinary environment that I loved and enjoyed from start to finish, I like the messages I perceived from this film. The first is that we may be defined by our bad decisions and actions, but it is really our willingness to want to improve and perform that really defines us. We also see that we may at some point hit rock bottom in our lives, that doesn't mean we have lost talent, we just have to pause, for as long as it takes and pick ourselves up with the conviction that we will get back to where we were, but with the goal of going further.
A pesar del entorno culinario que ame y disfrute desde el inicio hasta el final, me gusta los mensajes que percibí de esta película. El primero es que puede que nuestras malas decisiones y acciones nos definan, pero es realmente nuestra disposición a querer mejorar y actuar lo que realmente nos define. También vemos que puede que en algún momento toquemos fondo en nuestras vidas, eso no quiere decir que hayamos perdido talentos, solo debemos hacer una pausa, el tiempo que sea necesario y levantarnos con la convicción de que volveremos al punto donde estábamos, pero con el objetivo de llegar más lejos.

But one of the messages I liked the most about the film is that no matter how talented we may be, we will really go far if you work as a team, if you start to trust the people around you who also want to succeed. Pero uno de los mensajes que más me gusto de la película, es que no importa que tan talentosos podamos ser, realmente vamos a llegar lejos si se trabaja en equipo, si comienzas a confiar en las personas que están a tu alrededor y que también desean el éxito. Solos podemos llegar lejos, pero acompañados podemos llegar aún más lejos y es algo de tener presente, sobre todo en la cocina. Confiar en las habilidades de todos y dejar que cada quien cumpla su función.

Despite the harsh criticism against this film, despite the lack of direction and lack of emotions, I give it an 8.5 out of 10 and the reason is because I was able to connect with that passion for cooking, I connected with that thing that makes you want everything to be perfect, because cooking is an art and when we make a mistake in a stroke, it can change the perspective or the taste in the case of food.
