This weekend I finally started to do some clean-up in my Coingecko account. There are a variety of reasons why it took so long for me to get around to it, but as of this time and date, I can officially say I am done with that other blockchain.
Make no mistake, I was actually done with STEEM a long time ago, but this weekend, I finally removed the STEEM and SBD trackers from my Coingecko portfolio. It's not that I ever really cared how those tokens were doing, it was more about making sure Hive was doing better than they were.
For a long time, it wasn't. Of course as far as content and development, Hive has always been superior, but for whatever reason, STEEM and SBD continued to out perform Hive and HBD. Of course, SBD is still "outperforming" HBD, but can you really call it that? I mean sure, the price of SBD is quite a bit higher than HBD, but isn't the whole point of the token that it is pegged to $1? If that is the case, then HBD wins hands down.
Despite the pullbacks and corrections of the past month, our native tokens continue to outperform the competition. I think that is something to be proud of and I think it is the perfect reason to finally cut those ties that might still be holding you in the past.
STEEM has become more of an afterthought. I don't hate the chain. After all, STEEM is what helped me grow into the blogger and community member that I am today. STEEM helped fund my early entry in to WAX and opened a whole new world of NFTs to me. I do hate what STEEM has become though.
It has been a good years since I have even loaded the front page. I did load it the other day to show someone what it has become as I was explaining the roots of Hive to them. Other than that, I honestly have zero reason to ever visit the site again. I think I do still get some legacy SPS drips from originally having an account over there, but it is so minimal that it is almost pointless to deal with (like .001 per day).
I know many of you cut ties with that old chain right from the start and probably never looked back. I also know some of you still check the price from time to time. I don't blame you for that. I just know that personally I don't need that reminder on my feed every day anymore.
Hive no longer has anything to prove.
After more than a year and everything that is coming in the future, "Looks like we made it!"
I'm not telling you what to do, but, if like me you are still following that old chain on some of your price feeds, take some time and think about finally cutting ties.
You might not realize how therapeutic it can be to "take out the trash".
Think of it as very early Spring cleaning!
