From what we are already accustomed to seeing in this year 2020, several trips to space and companies with their ambitions have launched their rockets aiming at the Moon and Mars. It would not be absurd to think that we would not have blockchain technology also crossing the boundaries of the sky, wouldn't it?
SpaceChain claims to have carried out the first BTC transaction for space. The question would be, how? Well, it was possible because there was blockchain hardware in the International Space Station (ISS).
The co-founder of this project, Jeff Garzik was the one who led this feat. The SpaceChain that was created in 2017 is a space platform that combines space and blockchain technologies and together aims to build a true dream for any crypto enthusiast, to be the first open source blockchain-based satellite network in the world.
If possible, any user will be able to develop and run decentralized applications directly from space. That would be incredible and with this successful transaction it marks the beginning of this journey that will be very exciting for everyone. For this project to be taken off the ground, about $ 66,400 was donated from the European Space Agency.
In order for the transaction to be possible, an Earth station transmitted encrypted data to the ISS, so the hardware wallet containing the private key signed the transaction. Everything happened satisfactorily and with the support of SpaceX, it was possible to take the hardware wallet to the ISS through its Falcon 9 rocket launched last year.
What SpaceChain thinks:
The company believes that "by adding space-based payloads to established networks, companies will be able to increase the security of transmitting digital assets that can be vulnerable to cyber attacks and hackers when hosted exclusively on centralized terrestrial servers."
Imagine in the not-so-distant future when the Moon will have safe facilities for tourism and scientific purposes. It will be possible with future trips to the Moon that from there we can make any type of transaction with our cryptocurrencies. It would be incredible to experience that. Para que a transação fosse possível, uma estação da Terra transmitia dados criptografados para o ISS, assim a wallet do hardware onde continha a chave privada assinava a transação. Tudo ocorreu de forma satisfatória e com o apoio da SpaceX, foi possível levar a wallet de hardware para o ISS através de seu foguete Falcon 9 lançado no ano passado.
Sobre o que pensa a SpaceChain:
A empresa acredita que “adicionando cargas úteis baseadas no espaço às redes estabelecidas, as empresas serão capazes de aumentar a segurança da transmissão de ativos digitais que podem ser vulneráveis a ataques cibernéticos e hackers quando hospedados exclusivamente em servidores terrestres centralizados”.
Imaginem em um futuro nem tão distante em que a Lua terá instalações seguras para turismo e fins científicos. Será possível com as futuras viagens a Lua que de lá poderemos fazer qualquer tipo de transação com nossas criptomoedas. Seria incrível vivenciar isso. Formas de mineração no espaço de alguma forma acredito que serão criadas pois como sabemos, o vasto universo ainda é um mistério para nós.
