The perks of being a shopper 🥕🛒

100 orders later and I have officially completed my first month as an Instacart shopper. There have been many setbacks along the way, but I have been able to work some each week and have made a decent bit of money during the last 30 days.

As you complete orders, you receive points that allow you to level up your Cart Star rating. Your first unlock is Gold, then Platinum, and finally Diamond. Each one comes with new perks.

As you see in the title of this post, I recently achieved Platinum level. This gives me access to perks such as:

Accelerated cash back on gas
Get up to $.33 cash back per gallon through Upside

Recognition in the customer app
Customers will see highlights of your experience when you shop for their order

2x savings on oil changes
Get an additional 50% off oil changes

I still have a lot of work ahead of me to reach Diamond, but that's the goal. It should take me about another month to get there.

The thing that intrigues me the most about Diamond is the priority batch access. I would love to claim the best orders before others are even able to see them. When I get to Diamond, I should see an increase in the number of great orders that I get to do.

Customers will see the Platinum logo next to my name and feel a bit safer with me being the one doing their order rather than a total newbie. I can imagine that it is not always easy to trust someone else to shop for you. Especially when you might get a different shopper for every new order. So far, I've only delivered to the same house one time. Everybody else has been a new customer for me.

How much have I made so far❓

Although I've yet to have a week where I wasn't forced to skip a day or two because of my car being in the shop so much, I've still managed to make some great money. During the month of January 2023, I earned $1,568.18.

The sad thing is I spent $2,000 on my car last month, so I'm still technically in the negative, but not for much longer. I am aiming to make a minimum of $2,000 through Instacart during the month of February.

It's going to be a busy next few months trying to make as much money as possible in time for summer activities and trips. I'm excited to see where this all goes and will be sure to make another celebratory post like this one once I finally reach Diamond!
