Just four days ago, I wrote how February had to have been the longest short month, ever. When I look back at my now regular pre-power up day post, I realise how much has changed in just the last few weeks. I chose the image for this banner because in my mind, one can look at it two ways: the world seems to be retreating into a black space. Our Ukranian guest from three years ago, her country and family have been much in our thoughts.
Secondly, I am beginning to feel as though I can see light at the end of what has been a very dark tunnel. February has been inordinately busy - mostly in a good way, and as I prepare this post, February's not done. And this post is late - for me, anyway. The sense of cautious optimism continues but it does still mean that although I have stopped my power down, I may still have to institute another once I've done my usual monthly delegations.
Until I've dealt with a few monkeys on my back, I'm having to dip into the nest egg. If, however, they resolve themselves, I'll power it all back up again, leaving it to grow. Again.
So, as I keep on saying -
I've not removed my various other delegations which also impacts how much Hive I can power down. I really am going nowhere...
And as I always say -
it's in the interests of transparency, and explaining that if you notice that I've started a power down: I'm not abandoning ship.
March Hive Power Up Day's approaching tomorrow
For March, my usual delegation of 300 HP will go ahead and for those who don't know, the 300 HP is shared equally among three accounts that meet the basic Power Up Day Criteria as well as these additional criteria:
Eligible accounts must also be -
- be less than 6 months old
- have at least two qualifying posts since the previous power up day.
Posts that qualify must have 200 words or more and exclude posts for Power Up Day, as well as which are specific to Actifit and gaming.- a reputation of less than 61
- not more than 500 HP in their accounts before they power up - both on the first of the month
As a reminder, the reason I added the second criterion is because -
Hive is a social blockchain: it's for socialising, ruminating and just generally hanging out.
And that's not all -
Every account that participates in Power Up Day, and does so regularly, stands a chance of receiving a delegation from

What happens if no accounts qualify?
Thanks for asking, and yes it does happen. I always say, I don't make decisions on my own, so if, as has happened in the past, there are "slim pickings", I will be working via Traci with the 
Delegating is not enough
Remember that in addition to the delegations, I add these accounts to my fanbase so that they receive a daily 100% upvote (if my voting power is still more than 90%; if it's not, I do try to manually upvote (qualifying) posts, but RL sometimes often). This is also why I ask 
Also, a word of warning to 
accounts can qualify more than once - and have.
