If all 6 cryptos covered here suffered through the Groundhog Day Hangover, then it looks as if today all 6 cryptos are making like Eddie Murphy in 1985 singing his hit single "Party All the Time" at a celebration. What was crickets 2 days ago looks to be the final FIFA World Cup celebration. Can the Big 3 (BTC, ETH, and LTC) and the Locals (HBD, HIVE, and CUB) finish strong? We shall see! Also, the series is winding down coverage of its first featured Hive Project, hive.ausbit.dev, continues for 2 more posts after this one. This post will show the closing prices for some cryptos as of 2022 February 4.

Closing Prices for Some Cryptos, 2022 February 4
This is the reason for this post!

[*] = Now that streaks are getting longer to display-- especially a series of short streaks, I decided to use the following shorthand:
w = 1 Win w
W = 5w = wwwww
! = 2W = WW = wwwwwwwwww
--> (Wins are EXCELLENT!!)
l = 1 Loss
L = 5l = lllll
? = 2L = LL = llllllllll
--> (Loss? Why, crypto, WHY??)
u = 1 UNCHANGED
U = 5u = uuuuu
- = 2U = UU = uuuuuuuuuu
a = L1W1L1W1 -- alternating streak starting with L
A = W1L1W1L1 -- alternating streak starting with W

| Crypto | Streak | Comments |
|---|---|---|
| BTC | wlwwwlwwlww | Bitcoin came to party today with its first USD 40K closing since 20 January 2022. |
| ETH | wwlWllw | If John McClane shouted "Welcome to the party, pal! then ETH heard that call to finish close to USD 3K for the first time since (like BTC) 20 January 2022. |
| LTC | llwwwlwwlww | Litecoin thinks it's-- you guessed it-- 20 January 2022 with its best closing since that date. |
| HBD | wlwwlwwllww | HBD had to go back to 16 January 2022 to match that closing. |
| HIVE | Wlwllww | HIVE nearly matched its best closing since 19 January 2022 (USD 1.150). |
| CUB | wlwuwllwlww | Unlike the other cryptocurrencies here, CUB has been in striking distance of USD 0.250 for a while. With CUB priced at about 6% of it's ATH from April 2021, legendary Eddie Antar would have said something like "With prices so low, we're practically giving them away. Cub Finance, where prices are INSANE!!!!! " |

Why Those Cryptos?
Bitcoin and Ethereum
Can a shitcoin dominate the cryptocurrency markets. Yes. Which one was it? Bitcoin, in between the early days and the 2017 bull run. Ethereum wasn't so hot in its early days either-- yet look where it is today. Currently their combined market dominance at 56.9%.
HIVE and Hive-Based Dollar
How can people earn HIVE? publish posts, reply to comments, upvote posts and comments; buy and hold dividend tokens; contribute to liquidity pools; DeFi; play blockchain games, rent in-game NFTs; trade other tokens for HIVE; arbitage HIVE.
Hive-based Dollar (HBD)is the companion stablecoin to HIVE.
Cub Finance
Although HIVE can be used for DeFi, CUB was created with DeFi in mind. When CUB is staked on Binance Smart Chain, the staker of CUb receives dividends in Binance Coin (BNB). Many holders of CUB are HODLers, so they know that the CUB price will rise sooner or later. If you don't have any CUB, now is the time to stack that CUB!
Litecoin
Privacy protocol Mimblewimble is going to make the transition from testnet to mainnet on the Litecoin network after 15 months of testing and develpment starting in October 2020. The MimbleWimble Extension Block upgrade is slated to take place between now and the end of 2022Q1. The MWEB update is supposed to make Litecoin fungible (where any LTC/Litoshi is the same as any other LTC/Litoshi). Just as important, the MWEB upgrade makes the Litecoin network more scaleable.
Litecoin has always been a payment-oriented cryptocurrency, and the ability to main Litecoins fungible takes Litecoin to a higher level as a payments cryptocurremcy.

| Not including BTC and ETH, not every crypto is covered by any news source every day. For example, one source may have ETH news on Monday and Wednesday, another would have it on Tuesday and Friday. I'm looking for FUD-free news sources for both the Big 3 and the Locals. I may actually have an easier time finding sources for the Big 3 than for the Locals. Ideally the news would be intraday in order to explain why a crypto went up or down during a 24-hour period; not technical analysys, but somews which came out to cause the rise or fall in prices. If anyone can recommend news sources which are good specifically for these cryptos, please let me know in the comments. |
Something To Read Besides a Table
As seen by the links above, my quest for finding news sources covering the Big 3 and the Locals is proving productive. The search continues for more news we can use.
Hive has 156 dApps in various stages of developmen for the Hive platform. I thought it would be a good idea to stay in-house and promote our own offerings. Since this series is devoted to closing prices for some cryptos (with Litecoin replacing EOS), the natural first dApp to cover is hive.ausbit.dev by "@"ausbitbank.
Today's Bit about hive.ausbit.dev
The last post covered the blogging viewers and front-ends PeakD and Hive.Blog. Today's post notes the exchanges where HIVE can be traded:
- Binance
- Bittrex
- Mandala (No KYC)
- Ionomy (No KYC)
As with everything else (except the menu items for PeakD and Hive.Blog), selecting any of these 4 menu items launches a separate tab or window. From there, you know what to do.
3 of the 4 links to exchanges are affiliate links, which is OK since they help to pay the bills for the hardware used to operate the site.

The next post takes a look at the menu item Anonymous Servers for Crypto.
Just My Two Sats
If all 6 cryptos were wiped out on Groundhog Day 2022, then all 6 cryptos crashed through the door to party loud and hard today. Not only did all close higher, most closed higher in a big way.
The quest for news links continues. In the case of the Locals (HIVE, HBD, and CUB), news from outside sources will validate whatever content Hivers publish on the chain regarding these three cryptocurrencies.
The next post takes a look at the menu item Anonymous Servers for Crypto. After that, it's one final menu item in its own dedicated posts. I know which project will follow hive.ausbit.dev, but I'll leave that detail for next time.
