Sucks that it also happend to you!
My guess was that I was flagged because I was transfering in a pattern and being not smart enough to hold the balance for a while so that labelled it suspicious of money laundry.
Unfortunately life demands me to rebalance all my investments (including some of my Hive) - therefore I was simply using this pattern:
- Hive wallet => deposit into Mexc => sell for usdc => transfer into CB => sell for Euro => withdraw Euro.
- Funds were less than 2 min on Mexc after funds being tradable (that is my mistake I guess).
Customer support asked me to provide info on source of the deposit and purpose of the deposit, aswell as info on the receipient. Because my KYC info on CB and Mexc was the same - that got cleared. But I was not able to convince them that this hive account is the same owner as the Mexc account (while they use facial recognition and my recent photos are all over my running blog - but it is not kyc-ed). I tried with countless different attempts to provide them the info they wanted but each time 6-8h wait and “please resummit” with stated issue “cannot verify source and purpose of deposits”.
As there are 0 dodgy transactions on my MEXC account. I just used it as an exit route and had less than $100 on futures to play around. This feels random and risky for hive as why/how should we proof where the funds is coming from (on an exchange that doesn’t even need kyc itself) and when you provide real info and you still get frozen - what can you do with a company that has been officially been desolved in 2024 in amd from the Seychellen.
My loss here is a route and <100$ so it sucks as now my total fees are +/- 4% higher. But my risk is somewhat lower.
