Celebrating a Masters Degree!!
My son's girlfriend received her Masters Degree yesterday afternoon and she invited us, together with her parents to a restaurant to celebrate her prestation!!
What better way to celebrate than with a great Beer and a hamburger??
I decided on a Striped Horse Premium Lager, this beer came in a decent sized 600ml bottle and has 5% alcohol.
It poured with a pale yellow colour, with a large head on top!!
This beer tastes light and refreshing, I loved it, and was quite glad that it was not a heavy beer, with that size, and still a hamburger to eat, light was good!!
The hamburger also was out of this world, it tasted great!!
As I said, we were celebrating my son's girlfriend's masters degree, and I want to talk a bit more about this degree.
As you know we live in South Africa, which is a country with lots of economic and political issues.
Before I go further, I must say that I am all for people to follow their passion and do what they love but....
This girl is very clever and comes from an academic family. (Her father is a professor at the University) He published a paper on Fairy Circles in the Namibia (Marion Meyer)
She however choose to study Ancient Culture Studies, which is her passion and she loves it. Her in South Africa, she would probably end up doing research for the university and teaching other students in this field. I don't think there is other opportunities in South Africa in this field. Very little people would benefit from her research here in South Africa, and most would never hear or know about it. She will however love her work!!
She could easily obtain any degree, even a medical doctor!! (I must now mention that her personality would not work for a medical doctor as she hates blood and any violence or suffering)
I would like to hear what your views are on this, should she have studied something that could contribute more to the country or should she have followed her passion??
(I do believe that one should do what one love, what do you think?)
I hope you enjoyed the post and that you have a wonderful day!
