We starting a fair detailed discussion about the numbers pertaining to microblogging on blockchain. Hive is going through a transition with the addition of this to the ecosystem.
Thus far, acceptance is rather slow.
According to Khal, we are looking at roughly 500-600 Threads put up each day. This is minimal at best.
Being a relatively new feature to Hive, it is understandable that it is slow to get going. Couple that with the fact that Leofinance is the only one who is offering this feature and we can see why adoption is slow.
That said, among the Leofinance community, we see a lack of participation. This is what should be most bothersome to anyone who is holding LEO.
What is sad is many of those who profess to be "lions" will sit in discord all day long or are posting throughout the day on Twitter.
But to what end is the question.
Here we will take a look at the impact of Twitter and whether we should be spending our time there.
500 Million Tweets Per Day
Twitter is a busy place. There is no denying this.
Here is what we see being done each day.
Obviously, something like that is out of the reach of LeoThreads.
This did stimulate a very interesting question:
What Happens if We Capture 0.1% of Tweets Posted Per Day on Hive?
This article delves into a very interesting proposition. How much benefit is brought to Hive is the number of Threads skyrockets?
Instead of dealing with a few hundred per day, what if that was a few hundred thousand?
As we can see that would be just .1% of what Twitter does.
Monumental Activity On Hive
The key here is these numbers are just Tweets and Threads. We are not dealing with the other transactions associated with them such as comments and voting.
Therefore, 500K could easily turn into 1.5 million with votes and comments. This would be a major boost to Hive.
Here is what Hive is doing now:
This means we would about double the activity on Hive.
Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that whatever rewards Threads earn, as long as it tops the dust threshold, will result in a payout after the 7 day voting window elapses. This means we will see another few hundred thousand transactions based upon the activity done previoiusly.
The advantage is this is one thing within our control. Where we post and how much we do is our choice.
The Twitter Army
We have a strong group on Twitter. That cannot be denied.
What is debatable is the impact they are genuinely having. Are they making a difference?
To start, we know Hive is still shadowbanned. Many of the ones I follow have the vote immediately removed as soon as I give it. Hence, Hive is not going to reach trending.
Many espouse the reason to be on Web 2.0 is to pull people to Hive. This makes sense if we have a reach. However, it seems anything mentioning Hive is immediately boxed in. This means that, very likely, we are simply talking to ourselves.
Another way of looking at this is the results on-chain. How many new signups are we getting each day? Are the numbers increasing over the long term?
It is a while since I looked but my guess is we are not seeing much improvement. Therefore, the impact of all this Twitter activity is perhaps helping Elon Musk yet is not doing a great deal for Hive.
Hopefully someone has evidence to the contrary.
Twitter or LeoThreads?
Where is the best use of our time?
This is a serious question. Once again, it becomes a matter of numbers.
How hard it is to do 10 Threads in a day? That is a piece of cake. Now, if we have 1,000 people doing it, that is 10K transactions with just those who are on or around Leofinance.
This, of course, will lead to more engagement, meaning that people will reply. The back and forth can become a string, causing the numbers to rise quickly.
The Most Liked Tweets of 2022 are:
- Chadwick Bozeman 7.1 million likes
- Elon Musk 6.3 million likes
Naturally, we will not see anything close to this. The point is, however, that it is an increase in activity. Is this something that people consider paramount?
We see some well known lions sitting on Twitter all day. Perhaps it is time to check their Threads and see how many they did.
If Leofinance people will not support LeoThreads, who will?
