It is time for people on LEO to alter their thinking.
I ask the question in the title because this is imperative to the future of the platform. While many will answer this as they are owners, the reality is most still approach Leo like they are a user.
Web3 is an opportunity to radically alter the path we all are taking. We are looking at a complete transformation of the distribution of economic productivity. The greatest aspect to all this is the results are fully within our control.
Many are excited about the ad revenue contract going live. This is a big step forward for the platform since it totally alters the idea of content creation and how it is valued over time.
We still have the 7 day window. However, monetization is taking place outside that period, providing the potential to generate revenue infinitely.
Of course, once advertising is introduced, we suddenly get into the page view world. This is a crucial distinction.
Here is where being an owner is much different than a user.
More Pages
If we want more pages views, the easiest solution is more pages. This means moving far beyond simply blog posts meant to scalp a few rewards. Instead, it is vital that every effort be given to getting additional page views.
This means taking all the steps to enhance the potential that someone will visit another page. Links are crucial since this is the easiest way to get people to another page. We also can do some basic SEO to try and get our pages more visits from search engines.
LeoGlossary is one project showing the way. There is magic to using the "decline rewards" on Hive. This project was never done with the intention of garnering rewards or votes. Every LeoGlossary post has the rewards declined. Hence, even posting 20-30 times per day is not a problem.
From the start, the goal was to create a collection of pages that could generate long term revenue. This means pages which can accumulate clicks over the long term.
The most recent additions to the project are following this practice. More pages are being added in hopes they will, throughout the years, generate enormous lifetime page views.
Willing To Do Whatever Is Required
Everyone wants to benefit financially. The question is whether one is willing to take the action that is required. Here is where the ownership mindset comes in.
Another way of looking at this is to have the willing to do whatever is necessary to make this place a success. That means taking responsibility for the results. If they suck, guess who is to blame. Making excuses or pointing fingers is off the table.
This is a position that most are not familiar with. We tend to be on the opposite side of the equation, being reared in the wage-slave system where we exchange our time for money. The financial benefits from increases in productivity and profitability are not for us.
Of course, most look at those who are getting those benefits, believing it is easy and they are greedy. The reality, and ask anyone who owned a business, that it is far from easy. In fact, when we look at what takes place on Leo, we can see how few have the mindset to excel in this environment. Being a business owner is radically different than being an employee.
Now, with the advent of Web3, things are taken to a new level. The comparison is no longer owner-employee as much as owner-user. The latter means one has no responsibility along with financial gain from the platform.
That is not the case with Leo. Each person with staked Leo is an owner. This means a shift in mindset is required. Here is what the difference maker is.
A Few Will Reap Most Of The Benefits
Leo is an opportunity. This means each has to decide whether he or she will take advantage of it. Unfortunately, the masses tend to reveal their decision through their lack of dedication and inaction. This is something we see across all sectors of society so it is not likely to change in Web3.
Those who decide to make Leo a central part of their financial future and put forth the effort to make the payouts become a reality will be able to achieve success. If we look at this from a competition standpoint, the numbers are in our favor.
Since most are going to act like users instead of owners, there is plenty of room for those who want to alter their financial lives. It is going to take a while before this concept is embraced by most people. This provides those with the foresight of where things are going to load up and position themselves for success.
Look at the question in the title again. How do you answer it?
If you are an owner, how are you going to act different than simply one who is a user?
The answer to this question really affects one's approach.
