βThe open road is a beckoning, a strangeness, a place where a man can lose himself.β
It's been a while since Hubby and I had our road trip, so last weekend brought me warm chills and an adrenaline rush as we hit the road, and later did some experiments and comparisons on which way is better and much more fulfilling going to the town of our destination. Is it the highway or the countryside road?
Let's go hit the road!
It was a lovely bright Sunday when hubby and I decided on a spontaneous ride three towns away from home to have some enthralling adventure, refreshment, and of course to create more bonding moments between us.
We choose the town of Carmen as our destination but this time it was a little experimental because instead of driving on the National Highway to reach the place, we took a detour to not just fed our thirst for seeing and indulging ourselves in the roads of the countryside but also to know which one is better, and will give us another unforgettable road trip weekend experience.π
A screenshot from Pinmapple Map. The blue mark is the National Highway, while the green one is the countryside road.
It was when we reached the bridge of Catmon connecting to Carmen that we took a detour. Though this town is not jamp with traffic yet compared to the city, we could already feel the hot atmosphere and the sun's scorching heat on our skin. So how about a detour on a countryside road, for sure it's not that warm compared to the highway, and who knows we will discover breathtaking views to get lost.π
From a four-lane wide road, we moved to a narrow road going to the peaceful corners of the countryside. From this point, I could already feel that we were about to see something beautiful today, so I was a hundred percent alert. I don't wanna miss any single piece of paradise that is about to surprise us.
The road is too narrow making it hard to overtake other vehicles. We noticed that the road is taking us up and we couldn't help but get excited about what was on the top!
We even forgot the super hot weather because everything we passed was lush green plants along the road. And from one full single-lane road, later on, the road was divided into two small lanes on each side of the road but still accessible by four-wheeled vehicles. And when I looked up I could only see trees covering us.
We were silent the whole ride and preferred to just feel the tranquility of the place we passed by. Ahhhhhh.π Everything was just so lovely and peaceful especially when we passed this small paradise of Coconut Trees. It was radiating summer tropical vibes yet in a cool and refreshing way. Wish we could stop by and drink some Buko Juice!
And since Carmen is the ground of wild rivers and springs, we saw flowing waters on the streetside. We even passed by a spring just along the road packed with locals washing their clothes. I want to take pictures of them but I was shy to do it as they were looking at us and maybe wondering who these strangers are. Haha
After many beautiful turns, there we were, found ourselves speechless and amazed by the overlooking picturesque view.
The Surprise: Breathtaking Overlooking View!
βItβs not the destination, it's the journey.β
Starstruck and in awe, we gazed at the beautiful landscape before our eyes as we stood in the highest place of the town. It's amazing that the rolling hills I only watched from afar were the hills that we were standing at that time, giving us a panoramic view of the town.
The green mountains under the magnificent blue sky with its cotton-like clouds is already a breathtaking sight but what we love the most about the scenic view was the coast of Carmen where the land and sea meet.
We parked there for a while and cherished this lovely view. We noticed that were no other vehicles that passed by the place other than us. It was so silent and peaceful. I closed my eyes and filled my lungs with every breeze of air nature gave us.
We continued hitting the road and decided to go home when we felt satisfied with the break that we needed.
Going back home via Highway.
Going home we chose to drive this time on the Highway to have another view and also check what's new in the town. From the countryside road, we made a detour going to the town center.
The trees and plants that we passed earlier were now replaced with many houses and establishments, and the quietness and freshness were now replaced with noise pollution.
Like any other town center, this part of Carmen is the busiest in town. But as we left and distanced ourselves from here, the road slowly lose traffic. We started to enjoy the environment as we passed by unique houses and different vehicles
We enjoyed our time on the road and made a stop at our favorite Pizza House, the Albertoz. We had a great time and felt so refreshed and rejuvenated.
Our favorite Pizza!
What an adventure and refreshing weekend we had! How about you which do you like, the rides in the countryside or the ones on the Highway?
That's it for our road trip weekend experience. Thank you so much for reading. I wish you all safe and well always.
Don't forget to smile often!
