Sunday I posted about the Father's Day cookout we had planned. Well, I closed with a promise to share the results of my grilling skills. Although the actual final result didn't get a photo, my son did capture some in progress shots.
Below are the steak pinwheels the wife prepared that earlier that morning. She took thin sliced sirloin steak and wrapped slices of provolone cheese, fresh spinach, and sprinkles of olive oil and hamburger seasoning. We let them sit in the refrigerator until that evening.
The shot below, is the PitBoss Large Sarge turning the pinwheels and checking the miniature potatoes. I cooked the pinwheels at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 7 minutes each side, until the center reached about 128 degrees. The minature potatoes were cooked for about 25-30 minutes.
Below is everything in the pellet side of the grill at the same time. The miniature potatoes, steak pinwheels, and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin.
It was a learning experience as I haven't grilled much beyond hamburgers and hotdogs before on a regular round Webber charcoal grill. I learned I needed to cook the potatoes a little hotter than I did and a little longer. They were still a little harder than we typically like, but still good.
Another thing I have to figure out for the future is how to keep the meat from sticking so much to the grill. I did spray it down with non-stick cooking spray beforehand, but it didn't seem to help much.
Note: Images were taken by my youngest son using an iPhone
