Since dogs and cats are off the table, I would rather have chicken as pets.

Last time I was at my friend's boarding house, they only had five chickens. I came back recently and their backyard was full of them- it looked amazing. It actually got me thinking about raising chickens myself.
I've been planning this for a while and told my family but they kept declining every time. I ordered chicken net online from (shopee), and I was disappointed when it arrived. I ordered 20 metes for just over ₱200, so I guess you get what you pay for. Still, I let it be. What was even more disappointing was my parents telling me not to go through with it. They said I might not be able to feed the chickens if I kept them in the small chicken net, since they'd need pellets and other feed often. And again, I felt discouraged.
But I thought I'd still try my luck. If I can't give them the necessary food they need, I'll set them free. So I put up the chicken net with my brother's help. I didn't take pictures while we were working, but I have a photo of the finished product.
The chicken net was too short- the chicken can still fly over it. So disappointing. For now, Tommy the chicken will stay inside the net.
And now the problem now is: what chickens should I put there? I was planning to buy some, from my neighbors, but they said it's not a good idea to get them from nearby. The chickens will just go back to where they came from. So I'm still thinking about it and trying to come up with a good strategy to get the right chickens for the coop.
While I was sitting under the Mango Tree, I saw this dude staring at me intently. Then it hit me: I should put Jorge inside the net with the female chickens(hens). Jorge is my favorite because even with just one eye the dude can still survive the chicken world. Lol.
Chickens became my favorite among the pets we've been raising because of their amazing looks and how helpful they are at ruining our mornings. Kidding aside, they're free alarm clock. They wake up the sleepy heads who sleep like there's no tomorrow. Aside from that, they can definitely help financially. It can satisfy our hunger, their eggs can be sold, and their waste makes good manure or fertilizers for the plants in our backyard.
The picture was taken by my brother using my phone.
Pro Tip: According to my friend Therese, to raise more chickens, you need to give them water everyday. If there's a chicken virus spreading in another barangay, you need to vaccinate your pet's to avoid the harm. And lastly, give them the proper care and love by feeding them- pellets and cracked corn are the best.
That's the end of my blog! Thanks for reading and stopping by to learn about raising chickens.
Love lots! (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
