We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.

A few days ago I felt the need to give away some of my Hive to a few users so opened up a posting contest revolving around a scenario in which people were hypothetically given $1000 to spend on entertainment over a weekend. You can take a look at the post here if you like but essentially: The money needed to be spent on entertainment purposes and one couldn't give it away, invest it or save it.
It was great to see so much interest in the contest. There were 60 entries so I had to do a lot of reading and it was difficult to narrow it down as there were so many great posts. These were the contest rules and the winners have been selected from those who complied. This post announces them and for those place-getters their Hive has already been transferred...along with a few notable mentions and some additional Hive I threw in.
Here are the three winners

I'd like to thank everyone who entered this posting initiative and for taking the time to craft such great entries. Not everyone can win however getting involved is the first step towards winning...Here on Hive and in life also. Thanks for your involvement.
Some questioned my decision to limit entries to 250 - 350 words however I did that on purpose. I wanted it to be easy for people to enter and challenge people to get creative with the words they used and posting format. The three winning entries, and notable mentions, demonstrate how a little creativity can win the day. Also, for judging purposes, I had to read them all and I'm a busy man, so limiting the word-count helped me out also.
As usual, on Friday I'll release the #weekend-engagement posting topic prompts - another chance to showcase your creativity and yourself to the community and, if you're so inclined, to get engaged with a few people you might not normally meet. It will be pinned in THE WEEKEND community and on my personal feed as well. Please, as always, pay attention to the contest guidelines for prize eligibility; I write them for a reason.
