Execute every act of thy life as though it were thy last.

Reading, and laying in my hammock at home, are the answers to the title of this post...and what a truly relaxing Sunday it's been so far.
Due to the complexity of life I'm forced to apply a high operational tempo mostly; I have many things to do and there's only so many hours in the day so I plan, prioritise and schedule things, move from one to the next seamlessly, work as efficiently as possible and apply a great deal of effort to ensuring things are done well. It can be tiring, but that's life I guess.
I'm not always on the go however and know how to relax, to slow down, and take time for myself. It's been one of those weekends and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
Saturday morning was spent doing small jobs around my house, it's amazing how many things need attending to and I'm not one to shy away from general maintenance; a little effort now can save big problems later. Tidying in the garden, leaf-blower work, sweeping, a little clipping of plants and such things were most of what I did, although I had to do some maintenance on a gutter on my workshop roof and began work on some dry-wall repairs inside due to having a wall-furnace removed. I'll do a post on that someday.
Around lunch time I took a shower and, after eating, spent the rest of the day working on a short fictional story I'm writing, most of which will never make it to the blockchain. It's twenty seven thousand words so far and will end up being fifty thousand I guess. It's coming along nicely.
Sunday morning was a sleep in after a reasonably late night out Saturday at dinner with a couple friends. I had decided Sunday would be my day and I had nothing planned although spent a little time at the hardware store picking up some things I needed and having a general look around. I ran into a mate and his wife there so we grabbed a coffee for an hour or so at the hardware store café then I headed home; my book was calling.
Most of the rest of the day was spent reading my latest book (as pictured) in my hammock with brief trips to the fridge for cold water, the pantry for snacks and the freezer for a popsicle or three. There was a nap or two interspersed between all of that and all-in-all it was a splendid Sunday.
I took some time to get things prepared for dinner tonight, I'm making home-made pizza, and will eat outside under my pergola with my plants and some music...It sounds good right?
Life is complex, but it doesn't always have to be; we can slow it down. It's a choice, and making time for that slow-down, choosing to make it happen, is something that I'm very good at although, admittedly, I should do it more often. I believe everything we do in life should be done well, even if that thing is laying in a hammock and reading a Conn Iggulden book. Life is too short to do anything by halves, *especially when that thing is feeding one's soul with me time.
Anyway, I'm keen to fire up the outside oven for pizzas so will leave it here. I have had a great weekend, am still enjoying it actually, and look forward to a peaceful night in with a movie or two.
How about you? What have you been up to so far this weekend? Feel free to drop a comment and let me know, or even comment with what book you're reading currently. It's your choice, comment if you like, or not; either way, whatever you do or wherever you are, make sure you do your life well!
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default; tomorrow isn't promised so be humble and kind - galenkp
