Weekend-engagement week 17: Best, worst or most cherished
Week 17 topic:
Share one of your cherished or favourite photos, and tell us why.
This can be a phone or DSLR camera photo and doesn't have to be technically brilliant - It just has to be one that you like, makes you happy, or takes you back to a nice time or happy memory.
Feel free to post your best or worst, it's all about sharing and is not a photography contest at all!
The photo I present here is one of my most cherished. I'll be forever grateful to my hubby for this shot. Here's why.
What was he thinking?
I've asked myself this question hundreds of times over the years each time I flip through our vacation photo collections. I did it again last month when we celebrated our son's birthday.
The fact is that I didn't even know this photograph existed after the trip until I asked our family photographer, aka hubby, when did he have the chance to capture it during the trip. It wasn't with the bulk of the other photos from that day.
One year before he passed away us, we decided to take a family trip to The Boardwalk in Kemah. It was summer, and granddaughter wanted to visit. We didn't want to unhook our RV from the RV Resort and make ready for travel just to take the short trip to the beach, so we headed out in our cars.
After we arrived, he didn't feel like walking down the path to the beach area, so he stayed behind close to the car. We packed our beach supplies in the wagon and headed for the water as fast as we could.
I remember my hubby going back to the car. That was when he snapped the photo of him with his mobile phone camera instead of the tablet.
In the photo, you can see how saggy his pants are. He'd lost about fifty pounds at that point. He's looking out over the beach area. We didn't know it then, but he'd made his decision not to continue treatment for his illness.
I've talked myself through this scene hundreds of times trying to remember exactly what happened all during the weekend and the outing at the beach. In looking at the photo, I didn't think he could see us. Maybe he could and was just enjoying his niece having fun. He was her only uncle and got along fabulously.
If not, then about what was he thinking?
Happy rest of the week everyone with whatever your endeavors.
