Cathline's my oldest friend, that's what I'd always call her. Imagine we've been friends since kindergarten/preschool. So basically we've been friends since we were 5 years old. That's more than 2 decades of friendship! Despite going to different high schools and colleges, we've managed to stay close. I remember we sent letters (Yup! old school is lit!) to each other in high school even if we live in the same town. She even introduced a guy who later on became my high school pen pal. Oh no, you'd probably guess my age by now! Haha
I promise her a couple of weeks back that I'll meet her this Holy Week. This Lent's the longest time I've spent at home since the year started and the only time I could either rest or meet friends. I've been at home, resting, eating, writing, reading, and watching series since Thursday. We were supposed to have a call with my boyfriend but schedules got mixed up and I had a few free hours. That's a blessing in disguise. I chatted with her right away and in the afternoon we met in a local cafe in the outer part of our little city. It's near a port where vessels are repaired, maintained, and at some point, junked, too! We had an unobstructed view of the port and the ships. The place was cozy and fresh, exactly what I needed from today's turn of events.
The point of discussion revolved around their married life including the cost of marriage which is undeniably a hefty sum of money. They had over 400 guests; I was there and it was a lot!. I was interested in the common causes of their misunderstandings and fights and we've talked about them as well. They've asked about when am I getting married and of course, they got the usual answer "Not planning to be married anytime soon!". It's funny how after all these years, I'm finally in a serious relationship. Before we'd met when I was broken-hearted and Chito, the husband of Cath, jokingly said he wanted me to meet this single friend, the owner of my favorite cafe in my hometown. Ahhh, funny how time flies! We talked more about anything under the sun mostly about our friends in grade school that's when we ended up chatting with the rest of our batchmates in elementary but unfortunately, Cath and Chito need to go somewhere. We might schedule dinner tomorrow; we'll see!
I've always believed that a friendship like this is golden. We might not see each other every week, every month. In fact, we might just see each other once a year but things never change. We always pick up where we left as if we never spent a day apart all this time. We've attended concerts, fiestas, watched a basketball game before. Do you have this kind of friend? What activities do you enjoy doing together?
