Linulia and She Cub
Randorian suggested to Dulinaria to have the others that were down the hall join up with them. "Why don't you have the security crew down the hall join us Dulinaria, it would relieve some of the stress and worry from Benaria. My sister and I mean no harm, but you seem to believe we are a problem, so put the numbers well on your side, my sister and I do not mind, while we wait Benaria can recover a little bit more".
Sinalina looked over to Benaria, "would you like a little more water, I do have plenty in reserve. I must say your monasteries well water is very refreshing compared to some I have had".
Benaria looked up at Sinalina, "Thank you for the offer, yes a few more sips would do me wonders. I must apologize for my distrust of you, neither you nor your brother have really given any reason for me to distrust you other than your sneaking into the Monastery".
"We really did not sneak into the monastery Benaria, we simple used a door that I suppose many have forgotten even existed. We scaled no wall nor picked any locks, we simple entered that is all". He shook his head at her slightly. "I promise Benaria when we have met with the Sightless one I will show you where the door is".
The others showed up as Sinalina spoke to Benaria. The apparent leader of the group was the female as she spoke up. "This door you entered through did it have a small carving or large and could you describe the carving Mistress Sinalina"? she asked politely.
It is simply Sinalina no honorific needed, may I ask your name before replying, I do prefer to know who I am speaking to"?
"Apologizes Sinalina, I am Linulia. I am tasked the security concerns of the monastery. based on the Alarm set off I have an Idea of which door you used however would appreciate knowing for sure as you passed several alarms that did not trigger".
Randorian was half listening to the conversations, and half watching the verbal exchanges, but something else had his attention. He noticed the other three guards leave. Their departure decreased the distractions, "Randorian, is everything alright", he was so intent on the slight sound he did not hear Benarias question.
Immediately on hearing the concern in Benarias voice both Sinalina and Linulia both turned their attention to Randorian. "quiet everyone" Sinalina said softly. She recognized he was hearing a faint sound, an important one to him as he had lost all ability to know his immediate surroundings.
Sinalina noticed the twitch in his upper right shoulder and a slight look of pain in his face as his left arm came up to rub his shoulder. Randorians eyes suddenly came alive. He got up and started to move down the hall. Sinalina could see the questions coming on Dulinaria and Benaria, she raised her finger to her lips in silencing gesture and followed her brother.
Randorian stopped at a door and tried to open it, as he did and failed his full surroundings returned to him. He turned to Dulinaria, "Can you open this door"? he asked. He noticed Linulia arm begin to make an unconscious move to her belt line, and then saw the slight nod from Dulinaria. "You will allow her to open the door, if you do not I will break it down. I do not want to cause potentially any more harm to the injured subject inside..."that was all it took for Linulia to act on her own the key was out and the door unlocked before he could finish his sentence.
Dulinaria, Sinalina noted, did not look happy at Linulias action, whereas Randorian had a very thankful look for her. She understood, Randorian did not like to threaten people.
Randorian walked into the room, evidently a dry food storage area. it did not take long before he saw the Tree Wolf cub. It was no longer making any sounds, he rushed toward it, Benaria cried out "careful that is a wild animal and could hurt you" all Benaria saw was the monster stories of his youth when he saw the cub and began to back peddle out the door.
Randorian sat by the cub and carefully examined it and the mess around her, A crate must have fallen as she jumped to find some food and it hit her square on the right shoulder. As he stroked the cub she began to whimper slightly, Randorian spoke comforting sounds and words to the cub, as he held her in a supportive position to relieve some of the pain.
He held his hand out cupped and Sinalina immediately poured a small portion of water in his cupped palm. As he was doing this Linulia knelt beside him to examine the injury.
"Ho...w how did she get in here" Benaria stuttered as his head kept pivoting as if looking for the mother wolf.
Linulia took charge. "Benaria go to the cook and tell him to prepare a bowl of goat milk warmed oats and then to put a small handful of raw beef in the bowl, while he is doing this go to the Master healer and tell him to meet us in the Sightless Ones entry. After that go back to the cook and get the bowl of food. Do you understand"? Benaria muttered yes and look thankful to be on his way away from the wolf cub.
"Dulinaria, when I am done I will need you to help me recover some, please have some water ready and be ready to support me, I will need help walking afterward, and Randorian will not be able to help. Sinalina, you will need to protect us if anything should happen on the way to the Sightless One. There should be only the healer and Benaria in the hallways. Benaria you know on sight, the Healer will be in garish ugly yellow robes with a purple head cap on. Shoot anyone else you see, preferable with those sleepy arrows if I heard correctly earlier.
With that she reached her hands out to the she cub. The injury was bad, she was not sure her battle field healing magic would be enough. She knew what it took for man, but not for animals, she reached in with her mind to the she cub, she was shocked to hear the thoughts of Randorian in the cub, he was still comforting her, "It is okay, she is going to try some magic to help take some of the pain, you have to let the pain go, let it flow into me, I can handle it" he said as she started to weave the healing magic. She heard his thoughts to the she cub, she felt the trust in the she cub toward him grow. Then as she was almost at the point of collapse she felt the bonding between Randorian and the cub, she heard the soul felt thanks from the she cub, and then lost her connection to them.
Sinalina caught Linulia as she was falling back, Linulia whispered in Sinalinas ear so that Dulinaria would not hear. "They bonded, give him some time". Dulinaria knelt to take hold of Linulia and give her a drink. She nodded her thanks and weakly asked how long. "A quarter of a candle, we were getting worried you and Randorian were growing so pale".
"It was not easy", she weakly said. "so different than man, the injury was so severe, she was near death. I think there will be little more that the healer can do. She will mostly need food water and rest to finish healing on her own. When Randorian is ready we should get going, the cook should be done with the cubs first meal and Benaria should be on his way to the Sightless ones rooms.
"Risking your life for the life of a wild creature Linulia was foolish, we can not afford to lose you" Linulia looked Dulinaria in the eyes and the look was not a nice one. "My magic, my life, my choice, never forget that Dulinaria...NEVER!"
She struggled to her feet, then took her water flask and a long draught from it, ignoring Dulinarias attempts to help her. She was angry at him, she would get over it, but right now she did not want him to help her. Had there been any more delay, then the she cub would have been beyond help. She looked over at Randorian softly stroking and talking to the she cub. the she cub looked her in the eyes and then Randorian took note of her gaze.
"We should be on our way Randorian, she is going to need some food very soon, some more water then a very good long sleep. If you need help looking after her let me know".
"Thank you for what you did Linulia, I know it took a lot out of you. Sinalina can you hold the cub momentarily while I get up"? Sinalina reached down to pick the cub up from Randorians arms.
As she took the cub up, she felt a thought, protect them both they are weak, they gave me much, you must protect them both. She was glad her back was turned from Dulinaria she would not have wanted him to see her facial reaction at the thought. She simply thought back "I will".
