Happy February & Welcome to the C/CreativeWorkHour + DreemPortfolio Challenge!!🏆
Have you ever had suffered from writer's block? How about performance anxiety? For a maker, there's is no greater discomfort than being shut out of your own creativity. It's just awful, ain't it?
Well, I had a breakthrough! Now it does not make me immune from writer's block, but the breakthrough is that I have an extra chair to offer it, so to speak, when it does come for a visit.
What is my secret? I'll tell ya, but not yet. First I'll describe how I found out about it. I wanted to go to study with the professors of the Stanford Design School, or D-School for the cool kids, but at that time I couldn't uproot to move from the US right coast to the left coast. So I found another way.
I flew east to Italy and studied on the PDQ with Stanford's lauded professors during a conference on Design Thinking held at the Architettura "Valle Giulia"| Sapienza Univerisita di Roma.
What I learned of Design Thinking until recently I had only applied to my practice as an industrial designer. But when I was promoting the joint challenge of CWH and Dreemport, it hit me.
What if I applied Design Thinking to Writer's Block?? I've tested it and found it working. So today, ahead of kicking off the Polished Post Challenge, I taught what I've been iterating to a live class of our Creative Crew and Dreemers.
I look forward to describing what that is and how to apply it to creativity on tomorrow's post, but for now I can say, that for the chance to share this with my friends today, it was totally worth the fear of flying to Rome.
