Tengo mucho tiempo sin participar en esta dinámica creativa de Let's Make a Collage, por muchas razones, pero sentía que debía volver y aquí estoy para participar en esta edición 241, con este arte basado en un personaje algo extraño que más adelante le cuento sobre él, porque como siempre me sucede empiezo sobre una idea y luego esa idea evoluciona a otra cosa. Antes que se me olvide, use Photoshop cs6 para generar el arte.

Lo primero que quiero contar es como fue el proceso creativo y de desarrollo de la pieza, primero vi la imagen base del concurso, que son unos zapatos metidos dentro de las cavidades de un árbol, esta acción solo se le ocurre a un ocioso, pero no estamos para cuestionar esto jajaja, en fin, regularmente cuando veo imágenes como estas de árboles o de las texturas que nos regala la naturaleza, lo primero que pienso es en hacer el efecto espejo y jugar a partir de allí, la imagen que me genero fue de un rostro, como de un animal, el zapato del lateral simulo perfectamente una oreja.

Como me quedo cortada la imagen, jugué nuevamente con el efecto espejo y la perspectiva para el sombrero, busque ojo las últimas imágenes de LIL y vi un gato, pensé podría usar uno de sus ojos, salió también esa estatua de un padre católico, me paso por la cabeza que este sujeto debería estar en una locación y busque en el banco de imágenes de LIL calles y me salió esta, que casualmente tiene una iglesia, y wao, como que todo encaja, para mí faltaban otros elementos y me acordé del balón de Oro que le tome fotografía en una expo de Maradona reciéntente, pueden leer mi post sobre esa experiencia aquí.

Para finalizar agregué nubes para modificar un poco la locación y jugué con poner colores y luces para que fuera un poco más interesante. Sobre lo del balón oro, creo que esta onda de que ya estamos con las noticias y preparativos para el Mundial de Futbol, me ha influenciado un poco.

El Personaje y la escena.

En un pueblo apartado el párroco de la iglesia una tarde molesto después de jugar al futbol, fue al medio una zona cercana con árboles, allí decidió que no jugaría más por su edad; lo cierto es que perdió la cordura y agarro con rabia sus zapatos que a pesar no eran los más adecuados para la práctica de este deporte, son lo que usaba para este fin, de forma brusca los metió en las cavidades de un árbol, esto fue lo peor que pudo hacer.

Durante la noche al dormir, aconteció una extraña situación, resulta que este árbol era el hogar de un ser con poderes mágicos que según tu actitud frente a ese árbol o te bendice o podría lanzar pequeñas maldiciones, pero el hecho de que el párroco haya dejado esos zapatos de esa manera lo enfureció mucho, así que le lanzo una maldición en la que portaría en su rostro parte de la superficie de ese árbol y el par de zapatos serían sus incómodas orejas; mientras frente a el, su sueño frustrado de ser futbolista era recordado constantemente por influencia de esa esfera o Balón de Oro que jamás conseguiría, y así fue que nuestro jerarca local de la iglesia quedo vagando por el pueblo todos los domingos en la tarde, con su cuerpo de piedra sin agilidad caminando a un torpe paso lento.

It's been a long time since I've participated in this creative challenge, Let's Make a Collage, for many reasons, but I felt I should come back, and here I am to participate in this 241st edition with this artwork based on a rather strange character, which I'll tell you about later. As always happens to me, I start with one idea, and then that idea evolves into something else. Before I forget, I used Photoshop CS6 to create the artwork.

The first thing I want to share is the creative process and development of the piece. First, I saw the competition's base image, which is shoes inserted into the hollows of a tree. Only someone with no time would come up with that idea, but we're not here to question that, haha. Anyway, when I see images like these of trees or the textures that nature offers, my first thought is to create a mirror effect and play around with it. The image that came to mind was a face, like an animal's; the shoe on the side perfectly simulated an ear.

Since the image was cut off, I played again with the mirror effect and perspective for the hat. I looked through the latest LIL images and saw a cat. I thought I could use one of its eyes. Then that statue of a Catholic priest came up, and it occurred to me that this figure should be in a specific location. I searched LIL's image bank for streets and found this one, which, coincidentally, has a church. Wow, everything seemed to fit together. I felt other elements were missing, and I remembered the Ballon d'Or I photographed at a recent Maradona exhibit. You can read my post about that experience here.

Finally, I added clouds to modify the location a bit and played with colors and lighting to make it more interesting. Regarding the Ballon d'Or, I think the current news and preparations for the World Cup have influenced me somewhat.

The Character and the Scene

In a remote village, the parish priest, annoyed after playing soccer one afternoon, went to a nearby wooded area. There, he decided he wouldn't play anymore because of his age. He lost his temper and angrily grabbed his shoes, which, although not the most suitable for the sport, were what he used for it. He roughly shoved them into the hollows of a tree—the worst thing he could have done.

That night, as he slept, a strange thing happened. It turned out that this tree was the home of a being with magical powers. Depending on your attitude toward the tree, it would either bless you or cast small curses. But the fact that the priest had left his shoes like that enraged the being, so it cursed him, leaving him with a part of the tree's surface on his face and his shoes as his uncomfortable ears. Meanwhile, before him, his frustrated dream of becoming a footballer was constantly reminded by the influence of that sphere, or the Ballon d'Or, which he would never win. And so it was that our local church leader was left wandering the town every Sunday afternoon, his stone body lacking agility, walking with a clumsy, slow gait.
