We just got back from a 2.45km walk that took us 34m 30s as we stopped for photos and took in the views around us.
We thought we'd work out a course we could use to train for an event called the Last One Standing. If you're familiar with the wonderful (read: completely eccentric) world of Lazarus Lake then you may have heard of his "Big's Backyard" multi loop format of an ultra marathon.
The idea is that you complete one lap every hour, on the hour, until you can't do it anymore, or you outrun everyone else. The laps are 6.706km or 4.167mi with the idea being that if you can keep it up for an entire 24 hours you will have completed "a miler" (100 miles).
We've been eyeing off our local version of this race here in SEQ for a while now, and we thought if we were ever going to do it we better start finding a way to train for it. Step 1: Create a 6.706km course we can do on repeat.
Today we measured the first part of it. Tomorrow we'll probably do the rest. Then it will be time to start actually training ;)
Oh, and did I mention we took some photos and soaked up some views?
Below, a wallaby that hopped away before we could get much closer.
And one of the many setting sun shots. You can see why we're happy to do repeats, on the hour, every hour in this chunk of bush, right?
