It was a scorcher of a day, as we would say here in Australia. I opted to wash the sheets as I knew they'd dry in the direct sun in no time at all. I got some work done here, in this big lovely house that has no air con, but a scattering of fans around the place. I focused on doing as much as I could as early as I could, stopping for cold brew coffee and then a wet hand towel for my neck, and then eventually, when it got to be too much, a dip in the pool.
I feel so grateful this time of year to have a pool we can just dunk our hot bodies into. When I lived in Bali I used to get through the hottest half of the year by having short cold showers three times a day. Eat three times a day, shower three times a day. No worries! But again, grateful to have that option, as so many others on the island didn't and don't.
Soon after my dip it was time for a green smoothie for lunch. I totally forgot to take a photo, but you can imagine, I know you have a great imagination. So imagine a very big blender and add 600mL of water and a tablespoon each of chia seeds, hemp seeds and linseeds (or flaxseeds as they're also known). Then imagine dropping into the large space 1 frozen banana, half an apple and half a punnet of blueberries. Then get ready for the greens.
Imagine me rinsing one really big handful of baby spinach and then boiling the kettle and pouring that hot liquid over those green leaves. Then I've moved onto rinsing the kale under hot water from the tap and then stripping the leaves off the tough stem and squashing it into the blender container that's getting fuller and fuller by the minute. I've rinsed, cut and stuffed the last of the choy sum in there too. I forgot the last of the fresh ginger today but I did grab the powdered blueberry mix with spirulina. I think it needs using up, so in it went. Along with the now "cooked" baby spinach, and on the blender goes, at high speed for two minutes.
Yum!!! I end up with something like 800mL of this plant based goodness for my lunch and there's at least another 400mL I put aside for the Mister for his afternoon recharge "snack".
Yes, I like this. I really like this addition to my life.
But, I digressed, a lot. I was telling you about my exercise in my day, right?
When I was sick of starting at the screen, all Hived out for a while, new class created for my business, email newsletter written to my community, I opted for a short indoor rowing session. Another thing I feel grateful to have is a lot of exercise equipment in our home. So when I feel antsy, like I have to move and do something, but it's still baking hot, rather than run, I felt like something indoors would work better. So in minimal gym gear I rowed for the first time in months, fairly fast, for just 10 minutes and it was enough to feel like I'd worked by body.
After a bit more business stuff, a bit more Hive stuff and a dinner with an ever growing number of plants on our plates we waited for the sun to drop lower in the sky and let the heat drop out of the day before our "afternoon walk". By the time we headed out into our beloved bush the sun had basically set and we were walking in a determined manner to get back out of the trees while there was still enough light to see. And while there were no photos from today, the last part of our walk looked something like this :)
I just finished a 1.84km walking that lasted about 0hh:25mm:54ss !
