I just finished a 6.069km running that lasted about 0hh:34mm:29ss !
This was actually on Friday, but I just got back to my PC where it is easier to post to . I was using eSteem/ecency on my phone whilst away. I took my running gear to Newbiggin by the Sea, but had not planned specific runs. I was up fairly early on Friday and so decided to run. My other half is doing Couch25k, so she did her own thing. We were staying very close to the beach, so I went down the steps to the promenade (prom) and headed south. Eventually the hard surface ran out and I ran on the sandy beach for a while before climbing more steps onto some grass. I was really just exploring, but I threw in a few fartlek sprints.
I found my way to the main road and jogged through the small town centre. At the other end is a golf course with a track running alongside it. It was around there that I went down to the beach to take the picture which makes it look more dramatic than it was. The weather was okay, if windy. It did not look like I could get anywhere from that stretch of beach, so I ran by the golf course for a while before heading back along the prom. There were a lot of dog walkers around and a couple of runners. It seems to be largely older people there. The area has lost a lot of industry and young people may choose to live elsewhere to find jobs.
One advantage of running along a coast is that it can be fairly flat as long as you are not going to the top of cliffs, but there is nothing particularly high around there.
I had been thinking I would run again on Sunday, but I had to walk my sister's Labrador dog and so got out for fairly long walks each day.
We had a really nice weekend in Newbiggin with some more of the family and got out to explore some of the area. I will probably be back there some time and will try to do more running. They have a parkrun that I would like to try when it is possible again. It looks fairly flat, so should be quick.
I hope all the runners of Hive had a great weekend.
Run free and stay well.
