I just finished a 5.012km running that lasted about 0hh:26mm:19ss !
Technically this is my 50th parkrun, but I forgot my barcode once when I went to Bedford and so did not get an official time. It was a bright morning with a hint of frost in places. I jogged down there as usual. I watched this video about improving your time and one of his tips was to do a warm-up as otherwise it can take a while to really get going and on a short race that wastes time.
So I did some little sprints and stretches once I got there. I saw others doing the same. A guy came up and said 'hello stranger', but I did not recognise him. It was only afterwards when I checked on Strava that I realised it was a guy I have met a few times. He has lost a lot of weight and looks quite different now. It was his first time running at Henlow parkrun.
I set off fairly well, but there was the usual mud after the first corner. I felt I was trying hard all the way. I passed a few people early on rather than just tagging along and had very few come past me. For a lot of it I was on my own with the guy who talked to me some way ahead.
I was not looking at my watch much, but when I did on the last lap the pace was not that great despite feeling tough. I lapped a few people and managed a sprint at the end with a time about minute off my best.
When I checked on Strava I could see that I was actually on target for about 25 minutes on the first lap, but then slowed down a fair bit. I just could not sustain that pace, so I need to work on that.
I will include a dirty legs shot for :)
Run free and stay well.
