I just finished a 5.318km running that lasted about 0hh:28mm:25ss !
As one of the "outputs" of yesterday first run after the lockdown tight period of inactivity I get some pains on my legs muscles, some of them I was waiting for but some others not, frankly.
I woke up early in the morning and, as soon as I put my right foot on the ground I felt an intense pain on the right side of my right knee...
I know what is this, I suffered a few times in the past and it always comes after a long period of inactivity in my case, for instance, after the summer break or holidays.
It is called Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) and it is an Inflammation and irritation of the iliotibial band causing pain on the outside part of the knee especially during running when the heel strikes the ground.
It is mostly caused for a lack of flexibility on the muscles due to a poor training habit mostly so, it's clear that these days of low activity have released the fit of all my muscles, one of them the tensor of the Fascia latae which I have to stretch intensively from now on.
Anyway, I went for running in a softly manner this time, 35 minutes and a little more than 5 km plus stretching the whole body has been enough for today.
Today I met less runners in the city but still quite more than a usual Sunday.
Tomorrow I am planning for a rest day or perhaps doing a soft run later in the evening just to check how this pain is evolving.
Keep on running!
