Assalamualaikum and hello to my dear Hive fellows,
I hope you people are having a great time. I am also doing pretty well. In today’s blog, I will tell you about my three years of experience and learning on Hive. How did I spend my three years on Hive? What did I learn from Hive? Which mistakes did I make? What should you not do as a newbie? How did Hive change my life perspective? What are my earnings till now?
These are a few questions that will be answered in today’s blog. So, it’s going to be an interesting one. Stick till the end; hopefully, this blog will be helpful, informative, and enjoyable for you.
Back in February 2023, I joined the Hive interface on the invitation of my beloved and respected sir, . I had never done any online work before, so it was my first experience of working on Hive.blog. I still remember the day when I met my mentor, Sir Yousaf Haroon Khan. His first sentence was highly motivating. He said, “Javed, take Hive as enjoyment and learning, not only for earnings; money will follow you automatically.”
His words still echo in my mind. He used to say that doing something on a daily basis creates a compounding effect. Now, after spending three consecutive years on Hive, I am understanding the real meaning of the compounding effect. Although I wasn’t as regular as I should have been and my Hive earnings are still quite low, I think Hive has changed my life perspective. I met many great people on Hive.
How I Spent My Three Years on Hive / Why I Am Still Active on Hive and Didn’t Quit
When I joined Hive back in 2023, believe me, after working for one month, I decided to quit because of two factors. The first one was that my English was not as good as others on Hive. Without good English, it became very difficult for me to continue this journey because most blogs are written in English, and copy-paste or AI content is not allowed here.
The second reason was that, in the beginning, I was not getting enough support from old users. It was a difficult time for me. I remember when I used to see blogs of old users supported by different curators, I wondered when I would produce such content.
During that difficult time, I relied on discipline. I forgot about the results. My aim became only to write two or three blogs per week and upload a few videos on my 3Speak channel. I followed the advice of my mentor, Sir Yousaf Haroon Khan, who told me not to work for rewards but to work for excellence, as rewards would follow automatically.
Then a time came when one of my videos went viral and was curated by major curators. That video crossed 100 USD and became my first viral and most rewarding post. It was my entry video in the Vibes Web3 Music Competition. Later, I also won a competition in the Vibes community and was rewarded 100 USD. I became the first Pakistani Hive user to win this competition.
Which Mistakes I Made in the Beginning of My Journey
At the start of my journey, I did not post in large communities like #pinmapple, #actifit, #gems, and #photographylovers. That is why I was not getting enough support. Later, I realized the importance of posting in big and active communities.
Another mistake I made was that I did not engage much with other users by commenting on their blogs. I used to comment very rarely. Later, an old user advised me to comment on others’ posts. When I started commenting regularly, my reputation began to increase.
What I Learned from Hive
Hive is a university. We come across blogs of different users from all over the world. By posting on Hive, my English language has significantly improved. Now I can convert my emotions into words in a language that is not my mother tongue.
I learned about different traditions and cultures of different countries. I also saw many beautiful places through a community called #pinmapple.
What You Should Not Do as a Newbie
Most new users quit in the first month after creating their account on Hive because they lack guidance. If you do not have a teacher or guide who can teach you about Hive, it becomes very difficult to survive here. You must choose a guide for continuing your Hive journey.
Do not spam, do not copy-paste, and do not use AI for writing Hive blogs. Once your reputation is damaged, it becomes very difficult to recover. Be consistent, stay regular, and keep engaging with others by commenting on their posts.
How Hive Changed My Life
Hive has changed my life perspective. I was an undisciplined and lazy person who wasted time on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. There was no productivity in my routine.
When I joined Hive, I started spending my time learning new things. I read quality blogs and learned on a daily basis. Along with learning, I am also earning passive income by delegating my Hive Power and posting my blogs in different communities. I earn through curation rewards, author rewards, and delegation rewards.
What’s My Earnings from Hive in Three Years
Here, I am uploading a screenshot of my Hive wallet. I have accumulated more than 4,000 Hive Power. I have taken a few withdrawals as well, but mostly I do power-ups to increase my Hive Power. I only withdraw my Hive earnings in emergency situations.
A few days ago, I urgently needed money, so I instantly sold some liquid Hive and withdrew the amount. Hive is my companion in difficult times.
Conclusion
The conclusion of this blog is that if you are a newbie and have just joined Hive, you should avoid the mistakes I made at the early stage. Consistency and discipline are the secrets of success. If you are consistent and disciplined, no one can stop you from achieving success.
I am still surprised that new people are not joining Hive in large numbers. I think experienced users have not promoted Hive enough on platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube. That is why its price is still very low. Hive needs publicity, and we should take this responsibility seriously. We should promote Hive.
