I don’t do lunch at work except Fridays because on Fridays, we plan lunch outside and its like an outing for us. its not just about lunch, its about gathering we have on Fridays, fun and talks. We started with six, later two others joined us and last Friday, five more joined our Friday Lunch.
Our Friday lunch group and plan is getting a hype and got famous in our office. Every other person was asking about how it goes and what did you eat, which restaurant. There is curiosity rising and everyone was like how they are doing it without any gap. Its about good coordination and team work lol None of us make faces or back off even the plan is according to him. It became more easier when the polling system is started. The place which gets most votes will be the final place for the lunch.
There is one group at work to whom we call elite class. The reason is they have their own class and their way of living and spending money is totally different than ours. Well, it will be better if I say most of us cannot afford those things on daily basis which they used to do. So, we call them elite class, upper class people. Me and most of our group guys are like we can compromise on quality over quantity, lets say average food will be good in less money rather than taking risk on something expensive. Honestly, if something is expensive then automatically a little part of me already gets negative review lol. We always look around for something which is good in quality, quantity and price tag. For Friday Lunch, I am a bit relaxed about per head because it normally result in good average per head.
Going back to the main topic, last Friday Head of Sales, Pricing Manager, Special Project Manager, Telesales team lead and HR, this group shows interest in joining us and we happily invited them to join our group. As per polling, Jahanzaib Haleem, one of the best Haleem (Pakistani Dish) in town, was finalized so, we all were mentally prepared for the food battle lol. I also voted for this place so I was happy that finally something which I want got selected. New members entrance could be an issue for some as they will be uncomfortable or maybe get a bit of reserved in communication but this doesn’t matter for me because I am the same with everyone doesn’t matter who you are. I am always casual and friendly, makes fun of everyone and also sportingly takes jokes on myself.
We all gathered at Jahanzaib Haleem and the fun starts. We were 13 and ordered 7 plates of Haleem, 2 chicken and 5 beef flavor. I am so clever and good in calculations, I knew that who is going to finish it and those who wont will give it to me. In the end, I will be the one finishing and clearing the plates because I don’t like food to be left behind, it should be crystal clear. As expected, three plates came to me in the end to finish it all. Couple of my friends helped me in doing so. Haleem was delicious and with those hot served Naans, it was looking awesome. We are too fast in eating, but according to the situation, we took it slow and were trying to match the speed of new joiners. Once they were over, then our speed gets better and in no time, all the plates were well cleaned.
The best part was when we asked for the bill, serving person didn’t counted the Naans and asked us how many Naans we ate. This is the finniest question because no one care to count the Naans when they were served, we were so busy in eating but yes, we know that they were coming back to back and in quantity. The body language of new joiners showed that they didn’t enjoyed much and looks tired and low in energy. I think they had something different in their minds and were not very fond of Haleem. I think they won’t be joining us for the next Friday Lunch. Well, its up to them, we will continue to have the same. I don’t know exact about others but I really enjoyed this lunch, I was not just busy in eating, I was busy in communicating and joking around as well. I made a couple of jokes with HR, one of them was about the appraisal which is being followed lately. I said HR should ask Boss to make increment according to the amount of food everyone ate today, it was certain that I am the person who ate the most so I should be having more increment than others. well, it was in Urdu and translating it in English didn’t resulted in the same way as I spoke in there, everyone really enjoyed this joke and laugh out loud. It was a fantastic lunch for me, lets hope for the same on coming Friday. Cheers!!
