Today I wanted to do something more free, something beyond simply sitting down and drawing by following rules. I wanted to draw guided by my inspiration, without structures, without references, just enjoying the process. But since we are still in the insect challenge, I knew from the beginning that one of these animals would be the protagonist. For days I’ve had in mind an image of a firefly with stars on its wings that shine in the dark, and that’s precisely what I wanted to draw. I don’t have much process to share because I simply let myself go until I had the whole canvas drawn, but I’ll share some parts as well. I was drawing in Ibis Paint and using many brushes and textures, simply letting it flow. This kind of more childlike process undoubtedly pleases me a lot, and although the result is not an anatomically correct insect or faithful to reality, I believe the outcome and the exercise in general were worth it.
Hoy quise hacer algo más libre, algo más que simplemente sentarme y dibujar siguiendo reglas. Quise dibujar siguiendo mi inspiración, sin estructuras, sin referencias, solo disfrutar el proceso. Pero como seguimos con el reto de los insectos, sabía desde el principio que uno de estos animales sería el protagonista. Tengo en mi mente desde hace días una imagen de una luciérnaga con estrellas en las alas que brillan en la oscuridad y precisamente quise dibujar eso. No tengo mucho proceso que compartir ya que simplemente me dejé llevar hasta que tuve todo el lienzo dibujado, pero les comparto algunas partes también. Estuve dibujando en Ibis Paint y usando muchos pinceles y texturas, simplemente dejándolo fluir. Este tipo de proceso más infantil sin dudas me gusta mucho y aunque el resultado no es un insecto anatómicamente correcto o fiel a la realidad, creo que el resultado y el ejercicio en general valieron la pena.
