Greetings!
Among the numerous benefits of cycling for humans, I decided to emphasize how it helps to boost self-esteem, from the very lowest to the highest level, without stress.
Cycling helps to improve body image with ease.
Regular cycling, no matter how overweight a person is, helps reduce it(maybe not to a full length, the evidence will be seen). Sometimes, the person might not notice the changes immediately because they are cycling for fun. But when they finally notice, it will be a significant boost to their self-esteem....Imagine using one stone to kill many birds.
As funny as this may sound, someone with a poor walking style can get it corrected to an extent while cycling.
How?
Cycling involves putting muscles and joints at work. Oftentimes, poor walking styles are caused by poor joint placement. Regular cycling can help adjust such joints gradually without causing pain.
Have you not seen that kind of thing? Way back while growing up in the village, children growing into teens with poor walking systems were assured that they would outgrow the style and correct it as they grew up. From what we saw, which I can attest to, their belief was true. We once saw a boy with a poor standing position get corrected at that age. It all happened when he began to ride a bicycle. Though it wasn't instant, within four months, we started noticing how his poor walking and standing styles were straightening up. Imagine the kind of elevation his mind experienced, and the shame he used to feel totally vanished.
The good sense of accomplishment the boost self-esteem
Apart from cycling being a sporting activity featured in many sporting tournaments like the Olympics, it is also an activity that can be done individually and still achieve 'wonders' when done in a group.Just as it gives a sense of accomplishment in a group setting, it also provides that on an individual basis. You can set a goal for yourself and achieve it.
Today, while reading a post, I came across an author who mentioned that she is adopting a lifestyle where she is keeping her cars and using a bicycle instead. To be very honest, I smiled and thought to myself about how long she would maintain this, leaving her easy-going car to use a bicycle for work and other errands.
Now, do you know the level of joy and self-satisfaction she will get if she maintains that streak for a month, two months, four months, or even a year? Ohhh! She will feel like she has won a medal, and that will be a full assurance to her body that she can set a goal and achieve it.
Way back when we were small, there was a stage where, if a child couldn't ride a bicycle, he or she would become a mockery. I experienced this because my immediate younger brother learned to ride a bicycle before me. When I finally learned, the perception of myself as lazy, as people often called me, disappeared. I began to see myself as a giant conqueror who can conquer anything.
Thanks for reading.
