Finally this week the demand for students who require private classes has decreased a bit: regular classes have started and there are only a few left wanting to review a bit, but not much more than that. That means my brain is finally going to be able to rest and focus on other things, like completing all the to-dos I have and catching up on cleaning my house. This week was particularly great and kept me in a good mood with unexpected things, and I wanted to stay in the good mood for a while longer. Before getting fully involved in all that, I preferred to take a walk with my nieces, something that puts them in a good mood too and we walked for a while ❤️.
Finalmente esta semana se ha reducido un poco la demanda de alumnos que requieren clases particulares: las clases regulares han empezado y solo quedan unos que otros con ganas de repasar un poco, pero no mucho más que eso. Eso significa que mi cerebro al fin va a poder descansar y concentrarse en otras cosas, como completar todas las tareas pendientes que tengo y ponerme al día con la limpieza de mi casa. Esta semana fue particularmente genial y me mantuvo de buen humor con cosas inesperadas, y quería seguir en el buen mood un rato más. Antes de meterme de lleno en todo eso, preferí dar un paseo con mis sobrinas, algo que las pone de buen humor a ellas también y de paso paseamos un rato ❤️.
I usually use my weekends to go for a little walk with my nieces and take them to cool places, museums and parks, but all of that is far away and this time I didn't want to be so far away. The good thing is that we live very close to the train station, which allows us to choose any nearby town, go down there and enjoy a square. It is noticeable that in these years the municipality of my town has invested "a little" in keeping these common spaces in good condition and turned the station square into a recreational space with new games for the children. Ok, it's not the best park we went to but it helps to relax a bit while the kids have fun 😃.
Generalmente uso mis fines de semana para ir a pasear un poco con mis sobrinas y llevarlas a lugares geniales, museos y parques, pero todo eso nos queda lejos y esta vez no quería alejarme tanto. Lo bueno es que nosotros vivimos muy cerca de la estación del tren, lo que nos permite elegir cualquier localidad cercana, bajar allí y disfrutar de alguna plaza. Se nota que en estos años el municipio de mi localidad ha invertido "un poco" en mantener en condiciones estos espacios comunes y convirtió la plaza de la estación en un espacio recreativo con juegos nuevos para los chicos. Ok, no es el mejor parque al que fuimos pero sirve para despejarse un poco mientras los niños se divierten 😃.
My nieces (actually my cousins' daughters) are growing up pretty fast. The youngest has already started kindergarten and the oldest is in 4th grade. Today in the afternoon we were doing some drawings and homework to learn to read. You know, I can't go against my instinct to teach, I have a lot of patience and I enjoy doing it and luckily they listen to me. As a "reward" for having studied a bit, we went to the square for a while. They know that they are girls and studying is their obligation, but that as far as possible we are going for a walk so that they are motivated to continue doing so. A kind of reward that has been working quite well ❤️.
Mis sobrinas (en realidad, las hijas de mis primas) estan creciendo bastante rápido. La más pequeña ya empezó el jardín y la más grande va a 4to grado. Hoy a la tarde estuvimos haciendo un poco de dibujos y tarea para aprender a leer. Saben, yo no puedo ir contra mi instinto de enseñar, tengo mucha paciencia y disfruto hacerlo y por suerte ellas me hacen caso. Como "premio" por haber estudiado un poco, fuimos un rato a la plaza. Ellas saben que son niñas y estudiar es su obligación, pero que en la medida de lo posible vamos a salir a pasear para que se motiven a seguir haciendolo. Una especie de recompensa que viene funcionando bastante bien ❤️.
Soon our walk in the square turned into a walk to eat. I wanted to eat something oily, so we chose this potato cone that is in fashion around here. Is it trendy in your area? Here they sell it with fries, melted cheese, onion and bacon. The large cone that the four of us ate cost us 1100 ARS (almost 3 USD). The 1000 ARS bill is currently the one with the highest denomination in the country, and having to hand it over to buy a simple potato cone (and it's not even enough) is crazy. But all the prices are crazy lately so nothing surprises me 😅.
Pronto nuestro paseo en la plaza se transformó en un paseo de ir a comer. Yo tenía ganas de comer algo aceitoso, así que elegimos este cono de papas que está de moda por acá. ¿Está de moda en tu área? Acá lo venden con papas fritas, queso fundido, cebolla y panceta. El cono grande del que comimos las cuatro nos costó 1100 ARS (casi 3 USD). El billete de 1000 ARS es el que tiene la mayor denominación del pais actualmente, y tener que entregarlo para comprar un simple cono de papas (y ni siquiera te alcanza) es muy loco. Pero todos los precios están locos ultimamente así que nada me sorprende 😅.
I've already mentioned the heat wave like 3 times but I'm going to have to mention it one more time because it's not over yet. There are only 2 days left until autumn arrives and it's still hot as hell, but SUPPOSEDLY the rain comes these days. Well, that's what the forecast has been promising us for more than a week, so no one believes it anymore. For now, the 6 PM time is the one that can be endured because the sun is already going down, but there aren't many hours of daylight left after that. Let's hope it gets a little cool, but not from so much uninterrupted rain because we want to continue walking 😅.
Ya mencioné la ola de calor como 3 veces pero la voy a tener que mencionar una vez más porque aún no se termina. Solo quedan 2 días para que llegue el otoño y aún hace un calor infernal, pero SUPUESTAMENTE la lluvia llega estos días. Bueno, eso es lo que nos viene prometiendo el pronóstico hace más de una semana así que ya nadie le cree. Por ahora, el horario de las 6 PM es el que masomenos se aguanta porque ya baja el sol, pero no quedan muchas horas de luz después de eso. Esperemos que llegue un poco de fresco, pero no de tanta lluvia ininterrumpida porque queremos seguir paseando 😅.
