First thing first in the morning was going to the public market for we had to buy seafood, specifically shrimp, sea urchins, scallops, and crabs. We had to go to the farthest market in San Remigio, namely the Tambongon Public Market, to buy these foods, since our central market in the town proper does not have that much seafood for sale. We went to the bridge near the market where the cheapest but freshest seafood are sold, and fortunately we bought them successfully. My boyfriend chose them carefully, the freshest ones, so we could eat them deliciously. We bought the shrimp for 240 Php, crabs for 400 Php, scallops for 150 Php, and sea urchins for 100 Php. We also bought some ingredients in the market for our cookies and avocado milkshake. It is plenty of food to eat but it was the whole point.
When we got home, we cooked the seafood immediately so we would not have a hard time figuring out how to cook rotten seafood. We made buttered garlic shrimp since we love eating it, made grilled buttered garlic scallops, and a tinolang crabs with many malunggay leaves. We loved the process of eating, the preparation, the conversation, and the feast of eating.
Once we were so tired and our backs aching, we found ourselves so thirsty in the middle of these sensations and made our avocado shake immediately. It was just a pair of ice, a kilo of avocado, a condensed milk, and an evaporated milk. The blender was not that easy to use since it is a bit rugged but we successfully made the shake. As someone who loves avocado, drinking a milkshake from fresh avocados is a top-tier gustatory experience. Who loves avocado here?
After a long enjoyment of cooking food and drinking fruit shake, we headed to the beach and ate everything we cooked. We did not rent a table, a room, or any accommodations. It was just a simple sit in a seaside corner, laughing together while enjoying our cooked food made with love. I enjoyed the food but I enjoyed most the sea urchin which is my greatest food and all-time favorite. The sea was bluer than I thought and it was lovely to be there, with a beautiful company and scene.
At the end of the day, I realized that not all meaningful days require grand plans or far travels, sometimes it is just about the simple moments that we choose to fill with love, food, and presence. It may be tiring, messy, and ordinary, but it is in these little shared experiences that life feels the most full and genuine.
Tonight, we baked cookies we don't know the name is and I'll be bringing it to my school tomorrow. It was such a long, long day, see you Hivers!
