Hello everybody! Recently I talked about the palace that belonged to the princes Rumyantsevs and Paskevichs. Today I was able to explore the inside of the palace and it took a lot of time. Several buildings of the palace are united and their complex can be divided into a couple of large locations: the main building and a four-story tower. I made a large-scale excursion and decided to split it into two posts. Today I decided to show you the central part of the palace and its exposition.
The first floor of the palace is a historical reconstruction. The ceremonial room today looks the same at the end of the 17th century. The entrance to the Column Hall is through three large doorways. The room is a two-story hall that served as the front door of the palace and inspired greatness.
There are 16 Corinthian columns in the room. Crowned arches are an additional element that emphasizes the grandeur of the room.
There are several antique sculptures of women on the ground floor. Each of them indicates a specific time of the year. Spring, summer, autumn and winter. Besides these, there are sculptures of famous historical figures.
The next room is the oromnaya dining room, which was owned by the Paskevich princes. However, in our time, this is only an exposition that is used for holding conferences with the heads of neighboring states. The dining room was called "golden". The fact is that silver and gold dishes were previously located on the walls. Today it is the second largest room decorated with paintings of the great leaders of the city of Gomel.
There are a lot of rooms and the palace is huge, but I must show you some pictures of the ancient room located in the underground on the ground floor. There are collected many samples of the 17-18 century. There are so many of them that I cannot show every one ...
The expositions are impressive. I am a big fan not only of the interior, but also of the exterior. Walking through the many ancient rooms, I received an aesthetic pleasure. I took some pictures of the "red living room". This place is an adjoining room among the main rooms. Officially, this room is called the Enfilade. The name sounds pretty and it matches what I saw inside ...
The second part of the floor is occupied by exhibitions and antique furniture. I love to see how the style of furniture and interior has evolved. Although I'm a big fan of architecture. The second floor is replete with exhibitions of paintings and furniture from personal collections. This is the furniture of the French nobility. I must admit that the people of the past had a good interior. Tastes very good. Such furniture is now a luxury ...
The exposition has recreated the interior and even the arrangement of each piece of furniture as it was in the 17-19th century. This is interesting, because looking at it you can look at how noble people of the past centuries from different countries lived.
Concluding my virtual journey, I would like to share a couple of photographs of ancient icons. This is a collection of very old icons that have been painted on a wooden base. This is amazing ...
I just touched on the central part of the magnificent palace. But this virtual trip was probably exhausting. Sorry. I had to miss many historical highlights and sculptures. Both outside and inside the Palace of Princes Rumetsev-Paskevich is a unique, cultural and historical building. There is a so-called "golden ring" in Belarus, which includes unique architecture. The palace in Gomel is at the top of this list. I hope you enjoyed it.
