Nine months ago I published a post which I titled: A sample of old civil construction and mechanical engineering designs this link refers to a visit I made, together with my beloved wife, to the old Hacienda Casarapa, located in Guarenas, Ambrosio Plaza Municipality, Miranda State, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Hace nueve meses publiqué un Post el cual titulé: Una muestra de antiguos diseños de construcción civil e ingeniería mecánica este enlace hace referencia a una visita que hice, junto a mi amada esposa, a la antigua Hacienda Casarapa, ubicada en Guarenas, Municipio Ambrosio Plaza, Estado Miranda, República Bolivariana de Venezuela.

The Hacienda aimed to exploit sugar cane to produce refined sugar, brown sugar, alcohol and paper. It should be noted that it was one of the most prosperous in the country and was operational until the late sixties.

La Hacienda tenía como objetivo la explotación de la caña de azúcar para producir azúcar refinada, azúcar morena, alcohol y papelón. Hay que destacar que fue una de las más prósperas del País y estuvo operativa hasta finales de los años sesenta.

In the nineties, the Nueva Casarapa Urbanization was built on the land that was part of the old Hacienda Casarapa, located approximately 30 minutes from Caracas, capital of Venezuela.

En la década de los años noventa, se construyó La Urbanización Nueva Casarapa en los terreno que formaban parte de la antigua Hacienda Casarapa, situada aproximadamente a 30 minutos de Caracas, capital de Venezuela.

Within the Nueva Casarapa Urbanization remain the ruins of the old trapiche where sugar cane was processed, there is also the large house or house where the owners of the old Hacienda Casarapa lived. This time, my wife and I, we did not visit the house of the landowners, we just stopped to detail the ruins of the trapiche. You may wonder why they are only going to show the old trapiche, I explain this old construction has always been, or was, within the plans of the local government for its recovery with the intention of turning it into a kind of museum, to preserve the historical memory of the population.

Dentro de la Urbanización Nueva Casarapa permanecen las ruinas del antiguo trapiche donde se procesaba la caña de azúcar, también existe la casa grande o casona donde vivían los dueños de la antigua Hacienda Casarapa. Esta vez, mi esposa y yo, no visitamos la casa de los hacendados, solo nos detuvimos a detallar las ruinas del trapiche. Usted se preguntará por qué solo van a mostrar el antiguo trapiche, le explico esta antigua construcción siempre ha estado, o estaba, dentro de los planes del gobierno local para su recuperación con la intención de convertirla en una especie de museo, para preservar la memoria histórica de la población.

The saddest thing about this story is that many have been the municipal governments that have passed and the old trapiche deteriorates every day more, waiting for a helping hand that fulfills the promise of restoring it to give it pedagogical use and that in turn is a reason to encourage tourism in the area, because it is also very close to the beautiful lagoon, that in the past was the main attraction of the José María Cartaya park that surrounds that bucolic site.

Lo mas triste de este relato, es que muchos han sido los gobiernos municipales que han pasado y el antiguo trapiche cada día se deteriora mas, esperando una mano amiga que cumpla la promesa de restaurarla para darle uso pedagógico y que a su vez sea motivo para incentivar el turismo en la zona, porque además esta muy cerca de la hermosa laguna, que en tiempos pasados fue el atractivo principal del parque José María Cartaya que rodea aquel bucólico sitio.

The lack of interest in preserving the past erases the historical memory of the Ambrosio Plaza Municipality, none of those who have governed have wanted to invest in recovering the trapiche. Today it is almost impossible to recover it because time has passed the bill and so have criminals. Many of the things that my wife and I observed nine months ago are no longer there, such as the roofs and bricks of some walls, mechanical equipment that could have been restored have been plundered to sell the iron; I also noticed that they use what is left of the trapiche as a den and public bath.

La falta de interés por preservar el pasado borra la memoria histórica del Municipio Ambrosio Plaza, ninguno de los que han gobernado han querido invertir en recuperar el trapiche. Hoy es casi imposible recuperarlo porque el tiempo ha pasado la factura y los delincuentes también. Muchas de las cosas que mi esposa y yo observamos hace nueve meses ya no están, como los techos y ladrillos de algunos muros, equipos mecánicos que se hubieran podido restaurar lo han ido desvalijando para vender el hierro; también noté que utilizan lo que queda del trapiche como guarida y baño público.

Since its foundation this Urbanization was very well managed by the descendants of the former owners of the Hacienda. All the owners of apartments, of the different residential complexes, paid a monthly condominium fee and that money was destined to the maintenance, preservation and beautification of the common areas. The urbanization was beautiful, safe and ideal to visit and enjoy its spaces, tourism and recreation was one of the reasons for pride that we had the inhabitants of this great community, until, unfortunately, it was expropriated and all the spaces, including its private aqueduct, passed into the hands of the municipality. From that moment the Urbanization was declining, there was no more investment and the quality of life decreased markedly. Today you see ugly spaces, although the united neighbors are trying to recover the place, the large investments must be made by the government but it is not so.

Desde su fundación esta Urbanización fue muy bien administrada por los descendientes de los antiguos dueños de la Hacienda. Todos los propietarios de apartamentos, de los distintos conjuntos residenciales, pagábamos una cuota mensual de condominio y ese dinero se destinaba al mantenimiento, preservación y embellecimiento de las áreas comunes. La urbanización era bonita, segura e ideal para visitar y disfrutar sus espacios, el turismo y la recreación era uno de los motivos de orgullo que teníamos los habitantes de esta gran comunidad, hasta que, lamentablemente fue expropiada y todos los espacios, incluyendo su acueducto privado, pasaron a manos de la municipalidad. A partir de ese momento la Urbanización fue decayendo, no hubo mas inversión y la calidad de vida desmejoró notablemente. Hoy se ven espacios feos, aunque los vecinos unidos están tratando de recuperar el lugar, las grandes inversiones debe hacerla el gobierno pero no es así.

Last Sunday, November 21, 2021, there were regional elections, where the new Governors of States and Mayors of the Municipalities were elected, we hope that the new authorities will make a considerable investment in the Nueva Casarapa Urbanization to recover the internal spaces and common areas, and most importantly, the quality of life of its inhabitants.

El pasado domingo, 21 de noviembre de este año 2021, hubo elecciones regionales, donde se eligieron los nuevos Gobernadores de Estados y Alcaldes de los Municipios, esperamos que las nuevas autoridades realicen una considerable inversión en la Urbanización Nueva Casarapa para recuperar los espacios internos y áreas comunes, y lo mas importante, la calidad de vida de sus habitantes.
