It was a fine afternoon in the Big City... It's time to discuss Current Events.
It has been a busy year and life is filled with so many amazing things, that often the only news we hear about is bad news. It could be because social media companies want to keep us engaged with articles that make us furious and consume our energy, increasing the chances that we click that ad which is way better than whatever post I see above it.
Current Events - No longer allowed on FB
Google the "NEWS" -> What do you get?

Let's take a look at what is happening today.
Since College I have used Wikipedia as my portal,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Current_events
Not to make light of the news, but to share it
'Gathering news is like picking fruit,
Choose only what's ripe and true to the root.
Be discerning, don't settle for the first,
Investigate deeply, quench your thirst.'
I have begun converting the news into rhymes about fruit.
What is the Conversation that a Free Man has?
When we look out into the world and ask, what is happening?, are we just looking for a one liner? Are we just seeking for an authority to tell us how it is? Or are we inquiring to truly understand what is unfolding? To write at the newspaper used to mean something, and it still should. I think there is still truth to seek, and that searching for answers to questions and asking better questions is a process, and a discussion that needs to be had.
A conversation between those who gather information and those who reflect on it. Those who present information and those who carefully consider what it means.
'Amid the orchard's quiet shade,
Where stories sweet and truths are laid,
Fruitful tales in colors arrayed,
A world's events, in words conveyed.
An apple's tale from eastern skies,
A land's dispute, a nation's cries,
Tensions brewed, like fruit so sour,
A Russian storm, an urgent hour.
In fields of corn and golden wheat,
A drone did sow destruction's beat,
A farmer's loss, a silent weep,
A landscape scarred, its secrets keep.
A plane took flight, a fateful quest,
A leader and his comrades' rest,
In skies above, tragedy's shroud,
Their hopes and dreams in misty cloud.'*
By looking at the news from various perspectives we can spark conversation. I hope this poem interests you enough to seek further to understand these current events stories. I had the idea to use fruit as a way of conveying these news stories when I was restricted.
Too hot for Social Media.

I think we should also create a Portal for Good News
