@aleximprovement/bookcrossing-let-your-book-travel-engpl
Bookcrossing is a social movement that encourages the free exchange of books between people around the world. How does it work? It all starts with marking a book with a unique identifier, for example a special sticker with a barcode that contains information about the book and its travel history. The book is then left in a public place, such as a park, a café or a bus stop. When someone finds the book, he can take it with him and read it. Of course, he or she also passes it on later.
@stevenson7/short-story-series-one-autumn-night-by-maxim-gorky
Alexei Maximovich Peshkov is a fascinating author worth researching. His pen name, Maxim Gorky originated from his ideas and experiences of life. The former meaning a short, concise statement expressing a general truth or rule of conduct. While the later literally translates to bitter. Bitter; That pretty much sums up all his life experience. Albeit a great storyteller, Maxim endured much hardship during his time. Orphaned at eleven, ran away from his guardians at twelve, and attempted suicide at nineteen. All these experiences shaped his perception of reality and his writing style. When I read his bio, I was fascinated. When you think about it, it's the people who have felt the deepest pain that show the greatest joy. It is the people who have experienced the most hatred that loves the most, etc. Obviously, that is not a standard of life, but it has been the case more often than not.
@agent8/while-reading-enders-game-why-and-how
First of all I wanted to come back to HIVE as I have been many months without posting anything and I was thinking about many things to talk about but didn't know who to tell them to, I also wanted to talk about the new book I'm going to start to read that is ENDER'S GAME as you can clearly see in the title.I really want to start talking about this book as I love science fiction and I saw the film but it left me a lot of intrigue, so I decided to buy the book and start reading it to see what finally happens and understand it better.
@pieternijmeijer/american-psycho-by-bret-easton-ellis
Back again with another review, and back to the realm of fiction. I found this book at my local second-hand bookstore for 2 euros, so I had to take it with me. The book in question is 'American Psycho', written by Bret Easton Ellis. It's most likely better known as the same-titled movie, with Christian Bale in the leading role. Apart from some very well-known clips, I've never seen the movie. The book was published in 1991, and so is my 1991 Dutch copy. It totals to about 500 pages, so it's not the shortest novel, though it doesn't feel long-winded either. From this point on; SPOILER ALERT.
@soy-laloreto/un-cuento-perfecto-by-elisabet-benavent-or-review
I was about to fall into a reading block with this book. It was too much and too little at the same time, it took me two weeks to be able to read it, and the reasons are various, diverse. I don't know what my internal struggle is for some content. I want nice and pure love, and lately it's all about sex. I don't know if it's that I've gotten older and I don't understand the new trends, but then I find out that the author, Elísabet Benavent, Spanish, is my age. So I don't think it's just that. I missed at least 10 years of new books, the last romance books I read were by Jojo Mojes, and those were pretty good. So I'm trying to elucidate what's going on in me. Before I explain what's going on, I'd like to give you a taste of what the book is about.
What is Hive Book Club?
Hive Book Club is a community made by book lovers, for book lovers. A place where the chaotic minds of writers may punch away words from their keyboards as they share their writing adventures. Where passionate book collectors may rummage through their stacks of books to share and review their latest additions. Outside of our regular curation process, we may create contests for our community to participate in, and earn even more from their posts. If you have a certain theme for a future contest you would like to see, let us know! Be sure to check with us frequently on our various social media platforms to avoid missing out!
How Do We Choose The Highlighted Posts?
For those of you curious as to how you may have been chosen or would like to be chosen in the future in one of these compilations: we scan through the community and read the many posts that the community members write. We then select four or five posts that we believe meet certain criteria and are worthy of sharing with the rest of the community. We aim to keep these selections diverse in style, from writing skills or subject matter.
Hence, throughout the week, the moderators will check the community and manually handpick the posts. Some factors include the post subject, post quality, engagement, personal voice, and general effort. If we choose you, or you happen to stumble across these highlights, please do check out the other posts we feature, and contribute to their curation and engagement!
