We all know, or at least have seen, that the Viking world is about strength and bravery. They are fierce people, tall and fearless. Shouting is common, because when you go to war you have to be as loud as possible. Now, all this is very different with our character, because we have Hiccup, a boy who does not fit into that Viking environment at all. To everyone else, he is weak, insignificant, and small, but inside, he knows that he must prove his bravery and achieve his goal. To do so, he must enter the world of dragons, although from my point of view, his struggle is not only against them, but also against his own people and his own being.

The plot reflects the Vikings' hatred of dragons; there is no hint of friendship, but rather dragons are simply tools or pets that must be subjugated for other purposes. Therefore, they must be trained in a different way, based on fear and submission. Trainers are required to follow a kind of guide or manual that has been passed down from generation to generation, and now it is Hiccup's turn. Although our character is related to the leader, everyone would think that he should prove himself more than the others and, logically, he should train a powerful dragon. On the contrary, the dragon he is assigned is similar to him, physically small and seemingly weak, disobedient, and, in the eyes of everyone, a useless dragon.

From what we gather from reading, Hiccup is a bit rebellious. At first, he reads the manual, but from his point of view, there are flaws that need to be corrected. So he undertakes his training in a different way; for Hiccup, fear is not the way forward. The boy's intelligence is unique, and ultimately, he follows his instincts to achieve his goal. Here we see a unique sense of empathy; Hiccup learns the language of dragons, feels what they feel, listens to them, and understands them. This makes us reflect on how beautiful it is to listen to others, even if you feel that you are not compatible with them. Friendship and empathy are weapons more powerful than physical and psychological violence; this is something we should all put into practice in our lives.

Another interesting theme highlighted in the work is that of leadership, as the story shows us that being a leader does not mean being the strongest, the loudest, or the hardest hitter; on the contrary, a leader is someone who listens, is empathetic, understanding, and uses their intelligence to solve problems that arise. Hiccup shows us everything he must do just to be accepted by his father. From a certain point of view, this is truly sad, because every person should be accepted regardless of their weaknesses. Much less should anyone be forced to follow a tradition without taking their decisions into account, especially when those traditions or rules bring no benefit whatsoever. However, despite everything, Hiccup's courage is unique, and although he is always afraid, he does everything he can for the well-being of his entire clan.

It is a deeply moving story that teaches us that being afraid is no reason to remain stuck; on the contrary, that fear should drive us even harder to achieve our goals. We simply must do the right thing, even when fear overwhelms us. On the other hand, we should not feel bad about thinking differently; on the contrary, it does not matter if we seem weak or small, the important thing is to follow our instincts; because without thinking about it, we can change the course of any story. In the end, the theme of friendship is fantastic, because it is not something that comes out of nowhere. On the contrary, the friendship between Hiccup and Toothless is real and grows little by little, which shows that trusting someone requires time and a lot of effort. Esta es una verdad que debemos conocer, para no estrellarnos al momento de leer el libro y darnos cuenta de sus diferencias. En tal sentido; nuestra autora Cressida Cowell, es una gran artista en el mundo de la literatura dirigida al público infantil y juvenil; claro está, que muchos adultos también se han deleitado con los textos que la escritora nos ofrece, yo soy uno de ellos jejejeje. De verdad que ella tiene una narrativa única que nos adentra en el mundo que estamos leyendo, las imágenes parecen sumamente reales que por si fuera poco, son creadas por la misma Cowell; dibujos que por cierto no son tan perfectos, sin embargo, eso es lo interesante; ese punto le imprime más realismo a sus obras.

Es la creadora de fantásticos e interesantes libros donde el humor y el tema emocional, son los ejes fundamentales de cada escrito. Por otra parte; los personajes que nos presenta no son héroes poderosos, al contrario, cada uno de ellos puede ser un ser común y corriente; alguien que parece ser débil, pero su astucia, constancia, inteligencia y ganas de lograr su objetivo son sus puntos fuertes. Todo esto lo podemos disfrutar en el libro objeto de análisis; donde veremos a un debilucho Vikingo que debe demostrar ser valiente ante un ambiente que no tiene empatía por los dragones. Esta historia es más profunda y emocional que lo que se muestra en las películas; te dije que se nota la diferencia y te aseguro que te sentirás demasiado conmovido cuando la leas.

Todos sabemos o por lo menos hemos visto, que el mundo Vikingo trata sobre fuerza, valentía, son personas bravas, de gran altura y no tienen miedo ante nada. Los gritos son comunes, porque cuando van a la guerra debes ser lo más ruidoso posible. Ahora; todo esto se muestra muy diferente con nuestro personaje, porque allí tenemos a Hipo; un chico que por nada del mundo encaja en ese ambiente Vikingo. A la vista de todos es débil, un ser insignificante y pequeño y que dentro de él, sabe que debe demostrar su valentía y lograr su objetivo; para ello debe entrar en el mundo de los dragones, aunque desde mi punto de vista; su lucha no solo es contra ellos, sino contra su propio pueblo y su propio ser.

La trama refleja el odio que tienen los Vikingos hacia los dragones; no existe ningún ápice de amistad, sino que los dragones son simples herramientas o mascotas las cuales deben ser sometidas para otros fines. Por ello; tienen que ser entrenados de una manera diferente, ese entrenamiento está basado en el miedo y la sumisión. Los entrenadores de forma obligatoria, deben seguir una especie de guía o manual que ha pasado de mano en mano por muchas generaciones y ahora le ha tocado el turno a Hipo. Aunque nuestro personaje es pariente del lider; todos pensarían que debe demostrar más que los demás y por lógica debería entrenar a un poderoso dragón. Al contrario; el dragón que le toca es parecido a él, físicamente es pequeño y parece débil, no hace caso y a la vista de todos es un dragón inútil.

Por lo que uno aprecia en la lectura; Hipo es un poco rebelde, al principio lee el manual, pero desde su punto de vista, existen fallas que se deben corregir. Por lo que emprende su entrenamiento de una manera diferente; para Hipo, el miedo no es el camino. La inteligencia del chico es única y en definitiva, sigue su instinto para lograr su meta. Aquí se aprecia un sentido de empatía único; Hipo aprende el lenguaje de los dragones, siente lo que ellos sienten, los escucha y los comprende. Esto nos hace reflexionar sobre lo bonito que es el escuchar a los demás, aunque sientas que no son compatibles contigo. La amistad y la empatía, son armas más poderosas que la violencia física y psicológica; esto es algo que todos debemos poner en práctica en nuestras vidas.

Otro tema interesante que se resalta en la obra; es el relacionado al liderazgo, ya que la historia nos demuestra que ser líder no es ser más fuerte, el que grita más o el golpea más fuerte; al contrario, lider es quien escucha, es empático, comprensivo y aplica la inteligencia para dar solución a los problemas que se presenten. Hipo nos muestra todo lo que debe hacer, solo por ser aceptado por su padre; de verdad que desde cierto punto, esto es algo triste, porque toda persona debe ser aceptada sin tomar en cuenta sus debilidades. Mucho menos, se debe obligar a alguien a cumplir alguna tradición sin tomar en cuenta sus decisiones; más aun, cuando esas tradiciones o reglas para nada traen algún beneficio. Sin embargo; a pesar de todo, la valentía de Hipo es única y aunque siempre tiene miedo; hace todo lo posible por el bienestar de todo su clan.

Es una historia demasiado conmovedora y nos enseña, que tener miedo no es motivo para quedarte estancado; al contrario, ese miedo nos debe impulsar mucho más para lograr nuestros objetivos; simplemente, se debe hacer lo correcto aunque el temor te invada. Por otra parte, no debemos sentirnos mal por pensar diferente; al contrario, no importa si parecemos débiles o pequeños, lo importante es seguir nuestro instinto; porque sin pensarlo, podemos cambiar el camino de cualquier historia. Al final; el tema de la amistad es fantástico, porque no es algo que surge de la nada; al contrario, la amistad entre Hipo y Chimuelo es real y va creciendo poco a poco, lo que demuestra que confiar en alguien requiere de tiempo y mucho esfuerzo. Esta historia me ha gustado mucho y ciertamente deja un mensaje muy profundo. Ojalá en el mundo existieran muchos Hipo que hagan cambiar la narrativa del universo; saludos y nos vemos pronto.
