Simply put, the author creates characters that capture our attention throughout the story, a story that gets better with every page we read.

On the other hand, I love how Alex plays with the reader's mind, to the point of entangling us with traumas that can take unexpected turns at any moment, which undoubtedly keeps us in absolute suspense. An example of this is the work entitled La Paciente Silenciosa (The Silent Patient), a work that, without fear of contradiction, will impact you from beginning to end. Here we experience every word as if we were there, and the craziest thing is that when we are enjoying the reading, we feel as if the narrator is speaking directly to us. This is truly fantastic, because it makes us part of the story, and I'll tell you one thing, this way of presenting the plot simply blows our minds.

At the beginning of this story, we meet the protagonist, Alicia Berenson. She is an incredible artist, a talented painter who one day commits murder. You must discover why, whom she murders, and how. The truth is that Alicia, after committing this act, voluntarily stops talking. She has become mute and does not want to say a single word about what she has done. For me, this silence is like a double-edged sword, a shield that Alicia has created to keep herself completely safe. All of this leads the protagonist to become the center of a mystery, in which we must find out why she did it and really get to know who Alicia is. Here, silence is another protagonist and becomes a wall that is seemingly impossible to penetrate.

This is where Theo Faber enters the scene; a therapist who is obsessed with this case. However, Theo also has his own traumas and secrets, and rather than wanting to help Alicia, he seems to treat this case in a personal rather than professional manner. Now, in order to carry out all this therapy and try to discover the truth, Alicia is admitted to a psychiatric center, where I believe everything will spiral out of control. I say this because when you reach this point in the book, you realize that there are more secrets hidden in that psychiatric center than the protagonist has. But the truth is that Theo has powerful traumas that make the doctor-patient relationship truly disturbing. This is somewhat confusing because, remember, Alicia doesn't speak.

Now, the saying goes that he who seeks finds, and that is precisely what Theo does, investigating everywhere to try to clarify the central event of the narrative: Alicia's murder and subsequent silence. In this sense, the psychiatrist delves into Alicia's past, and without realizing it, we do too. In this way, we discover that Alicia harbors a lot of pain within herself and expresses everything she has kept inside in her paintings. For Theo, Alicia apparently does not need to speak, because everything can be confessed through her paintings. However, with each page we read, we experience incredible changes in the narrative, where the mystery becomes increasingly exclusive and intriguing, because sometimes we can trust something we imagine, but that leads us to a dead end. The work really keeps us in absolute suspense, and I love that. It is not boring at all; on the contrary, we cannot stop reading it.

Honestly, the author has provided us with an incredible strategy to give the plot an extremely fast and consistent pace. Here, we become other characters in the story and truly suspect everything and everyone. I tell you, each chapter we enjoy has its share of total intrigue. In addition, one theme addressed in this book is the traumas that people can experience in childhood, traumas that can undoubtedly shape their personality as adults, to the point of leading them to commit fatal acts. This book by Alex is not full of pages; from my point of view, they are pieces of a puzzle that we gradually put together until we reveal a totally unexpected mystery. The ending will leave you frozen, and I assure you that if you go back and read the book again, even though you know the ending, you will connect the dots that you had surely overlooked. Digo esto; porque he leído algunos de sus libros y fácilmente nos sumergimos en un mundo donde los personajes están llenos de secretos, traumas, misterios y mucha intriga que hacen de nuestra lectura demasiado agradable. Sencillamente; el autor crea personajes que nos llaman la atención durante toda la historia; historia que se pone mejor con cada página que leemos.

Por otra parte; me encanta como Alex juega con la mente del lector, hasta el punto de enredarnos con traumas que en cada minuto pueden tener giros inesperados, lo que indudablemente nos mantiene en absoluta tensión. Ejemplo de ello es la obra que se titula La Paciente Silenciosa; una obra, que sin temor a equivocarme te va a impactar de principio a fin. Aquí vamos a vivir cada palabra como si estuviéramos allí y lo más loco; es que cuando estamos disfrutando de la lectura, sentimos como si el narrador nos estuviera hablando directamente a nosotros. Esto de verdad que es algo fantástico, porque hace que formemos parte de la historia; y les digo una cosa, esta forma de presentarnos la trama, sencillamente hace que nos reviente la cabeza.

Al inicio de esta historia encontramos a la protagonista Alicia Berenson; ella es una artista increíble, una pintora de lujo que un día comete un asesinato; ustedes deben descubrir el por qué, a quien asesina y de que forma. Lo cierto; es que Alicia, luego de haber cometido tal hecho, por voluntad propia deja de hablar. Ella ha adquirido una especie de mutismo y no desea decir una sola palabra de lo que ha hecho; para mí este silencio, es como un arma de doble filo, una coraza que ha creado Alicia para mantenerse totalmente a salvo. Todo esto lleva a la protagonista a transformarse en el centro de un misterio, del cual hay que saber el por qué lo hizo y saber realmente quien es Alicia. Aquí; el silencio es otro protagonista y se convierte en una muralla que aparentemente es imposible de penetrar.

Es aquí donde entra en escena Theo Faber; un terapeuta que está obsesionado con este caso. Sin embargo; Theo también tiene sus traumas y sus secretos; y más que querer ayudar a Alicia, él parece tratar ese caso de una manera personal y no profesional. Sin embargo; con cada página que leemos, experimentamos cambios increíbles en la narrativa, donde el misterio cada vez se hace más exclusivo e intrigante; porque a veces nos podemos confiar de algo que imaginamos, pero eso nos lleva a un callejón si salida; realmente la obra nos mantiene en absoluta tensión y eso me encanta, para nada aburre, al contrario no dejamos de leerla.

Sinceramente; el autor nos ha proporcionado una estrategia increíble para que la trama tenga un ritmo sumamente rápido y constante. Aquí vamos a convertirnos en otros personajes de la historia y realmente vamos a sospechar de todo y de todos; les digo, que cada capítulo que disfrutamos tiene su poción de total intriga. Además; un tema que se trata en este libro, son los traumas que pueden tener las personas en la infancia; traumas que indudablemente pueden moldear su personalidad como adulto, hasta el punto de llevarlos a cometer hechos fatales. Este libro que nos ofrece Alex no está lleno de páginas; porque desde mi punto de vista, son piezas de un rompecabezas que poco a poco vamos armando hasta llegar a develar un misterio totalmente inesperado; el final te dejará helado y te aseguro que si vuelves al leer el libro, aunque sepas el final, volverás a atar cabos que seguramente habías pasado por alto.
